I'm with Tim. Over the past 60 years I've flown a bit over 2,000,000 miles. There is positively, without doubt, absolutely no way I'd book a flight on a MAX. Costs more to fly another type? OK. Can't afford it? Gas ain't all that expensive compared to a funeral.

Are those the full retail versions? Why do you need a no-cd fix?
-
Good point. I didn't think of that. It could be the internet connection/speed/modem/etc. Scenery loading could, indeed, be the cause of pauses/freezes if the the connection is too slow or faulty.....Doug

Welcome to the forum(s). I think your hardware "should" be OK at those settings. A couple of thoughts...do you have any anti-virus or anti-malware programs running? If so try it with them disabled. Also, be sure nothing is creating a periodic "dump" or imaging of part of the system. How long do the freezes last when they occur. Is it really a freeze or just a long stutter? Is everything running smoothly between the freezes? What is the framerate your seeing? This info would really help the folks here with trying to diagnose your problem.....Doug

"People just don't know how to operate the aircraft..."
I can't believe I just read this. It seems to me the more you know about how to fly the aircraft the more you know just how poor many aspects of the default aircraft really are. Now granted, the only RL experience I have is in the 172 but I think that's enough to know "how to operate the aircraft".

Given that this thread is over 2 years old, he has probably succeeded installing by now....
Jorgen
And now the thread is over five years old. I hope he's not still trying.

I think the larger ram usage is linked to folks running 4K and 1440. I am running an odd size, 1920x1200, and my usage is around 11-14 MB. One more thing to look for, the sim apparently likes low latency ram. I bought this computer about a year and a half ago, and MSFS had not been announced. I bought it to run Open Rails and X-Plane 11. I did specifically choose the ram based on low latency. Several tests have mentioned that low latency results in a smoother MSFS.
I'm also running 1920x100 and see the same thing. In all the testing I've done in varying conditions and locations with all the sliders maxxed in FSX, P3Dv5.1, and MSFS2020 I've never exceeded 13GB.

Just a minor correction Jorgen. That should be "due birra Carlsberg". Everyone knows that two are better than one........

Sono contento che ora sia tutto OK Renzo. Come hai imparato, l'aggiornamento è un'operazione semplice. Torna di nuovo se hai altre domande. Ciao ..... Doug

May your trip west be a pleasant one General.

I don't have a recommendation for you but I, too, love the 2D panels. I'll sorely miss them but I'm afraid they are a thing of the past.
-
If you're upgrading only because you're hoping that FSX will "run better" don't. It won't.

I hope you're not serious about this..................

"Windows 10 is needed to take advantage of 64-bit computing..."
Windows 7 also provides "the advantage of 64-bit computing". Just install the 64-bit version (just like you'd have to do with windows 10).

Great link! Thank you for posting it.

Why wait? At least we know this one works LOL. My thanks to the OP for the great tip.

so i went to several PSU calculator sites and it seems the wattage use for my system is around 725W
So is my 750W too low ?
Yes, it's too low. You're going to have a problem sooner or later. dogdish has the answer...go straight to the 1000W as no calculation is precise enough to warrant anything else.

Here's the link for an upgrade: https://www.prepar3d.com/ .

Welcome to this forum also Thomas............Doug
-
Just set it to the native resolution. Everything else it lower quality.
-
I haven't used Mindstar but I have used both the RealityXP and Flight1 750's. I'd go with the RealityXP.
-
I've stopped using it also. My daddy told me life is too short to dance with ugly women. I'll be back someday...if they ever manage to get things right..........Doug

The "move" option works great. It will take a while though so don't get excited if it looks like nothing is happening...............Doug

Welcome to the forum(s). Hope to see you back here often..........Doug
