  1. If you installed Mytraffic 2006, look for files called 'MyTraffic-unvis.bat' and 'MyTraffic-vis.bat' inside your Aircraft of your FS2004 installation, these batch files would allow you to hide and show the Mytraffic aircraft respectively.

    Hello there.

I have just had a quick look at one Mtraffic aircraft within my FS9 main aircraft folder and have located the bat files as you describe.

Do I just click on (in my case the unvis option?)I did just that ,but nothing obvious happened.

    Thanks for your help

    Andy.

  2. Andy,

I've had Daryl Fisher's Cairns airport for years and it was therefore quite some years ago that I downloaded/installed it, which also means that there could have been some FSNav problems at that time but I do not remember any of them offhand. However, if there had then been any problems I would have solved them myself via Lee Swordy's very easy to use AFCAD program, may even have made a completely new Afcad file myself and based on the default situation. Not difficult at all.

Here are some of the basics for your understanding:

FSNav is not directly linked to FS9 but must, for correct functionality, remain synchronized with it at all times. E.g. You cannot edit something in an Afcad file and then expect to immediately see the change in FSNav. For this you need to run the FSNav Data Base Creation (DBC) function first.

If the header data of any default airport is different to that of the downloaded one, the FSNav DBC function will process each separately, resulting in duplicate airports on top of one another and visible in the FSNav display, as you have seen yourself. Even a simple spelling mistake in the new Afcad header data, e.g. in the airport's name, will result in duplicate airports. It is therefore absolutely necessary to always see to it that any new addon airport's header data is exactly the same as that of the existing default one.

The FSNav DBC function will only collect the basics, e.g. the runway(s), parking positions, navigational data, etc, from the default files while adding any new or edited data found in the addon higher priority Afcad files.

It therefore also follows that any completely new airport scenery, which did not previously exist in FS9 or which somehow had it's default data de-activated/removed, must include all related Afcad data. If not, then although, e.g. it's runway is actually visible in the scenery, the FSNav DBC will not see it and the runway concerned will therefore not show up in the FSNav display.

Well Andy, these are only a few of the basics involved but a very good tutorial is included in both the Afcad and ADE programs.

Good luck and I hope this helps.

    Hans

    Thank you Hans.

I will see if I can find the program (Lee Swordy )you mention.

Your explanation of what is happening and why I have two entries for YBCS is an interesting one, and my current issue with this particular airport I would imagine could well be down to what you descibe in your reply.

I will let you know in due course if I can fix it .

Just one other thing ,I have something similar with an a another freeware offering for Pulkovo ULLI, in this case though the runways display correctly in FSNav ,but there are no gates or parking displayed. I can still use the scenery though because as soon as you vacate the runway after landing you can request progressive taxi from ATC and it will direct you accordingly even though accordingly is invisible on the FSNav map display. :)

Again thanks for your help Hans.

    Andy

  3. I honestly don't think its the VOZ CNS thats the issue. The ILS for runway 15 is there as I've 'flown' in and out of there many times (including real life as that's where my wife is from) with the VOZ version.

You said FSNav wasn't showing the ILS or course? Is that how QVA log there flights using FSNav? Or is it for the navigating part? I've never used FSNAv but I think you use it like a FMC / autopilot etc?

I have also used the other CNS airport but I don't think its exactly the same as the VOZ version which is very good I thought. The RWY 15 departures with the the 120 turn starting at 400ft is fun to fly and watch the real aircraft do it. Also fun sitting on the left hand side in real life as you get a great look at the mangroves on departure.

    Hello There

Your right about FSNav I does function a little like an FMS.

I have used it for years . I don't interact with the fs9 ATC at all ,I just create my flight plan and go on merry way.

In the case of Cairns, if I zoom into that airport using Fsnav the display shows parking spots ,taxi ways etc ,and it even shows a smaller runway (which I believe reading these posts is no longer used). The problem is the main runway it is missing no graphical representation at all.

I have tried another version of Cairns mentioned in an earlier reply to this post (I can't remember the name offhand of the author) but that too does not display the main runway when using the FsNav.

PS the runway IS visible in the SIM itself.

I am just wondering now if there is a clash between these to representations?

I do notice that on the FsNav map display that seems to be two versions of Cairns shown one is labeled just Cairns and the other Cairns international airport.

Anyway I can probably live with it, but just means I can't create a flighplan either Into or out of Cairns using a runway as a starting or arrival point because that main runway is missing from FsNav.

As a workaround I can create a plan selecting Cairns airport itself as a takeoff or landing point ,but would have to choose a runway myself for landing .

I hope this makes some sense (Not sure if I understand it myself anymore.:)

PS the other version of Cairns I have tried (as recommended here is the version by Daryl Fisher) it's a good scenery but the problem persists ie no main runway display in FSNav.

So bothe Daryl's and VOZ versions have the same problem.

    Cheers for now

    Andy

  4. There is a very nice Cairns here that has the main runway. I have used it. It is by a Daryl Fisher, from 2004. Search for him by name, you'll find the two downloads.

Hello down there from me up here.

    I will check this out.

Question though..If I try this scenery, will i have to disable the VOZ version which is the problematic one.

    Thanks Andy

  5. Where did you download this Cairns airport from ? File name please ? I would want to download it myself, to take a look at it myself and to then see if I can find a way to help you.

    Regards

    Hans

    Hello Hans

This particular airport came as part of the Vista Australis (VOZ)now free download.

    Cheers Andy

  6. Have you loaded the ADE/AFCAD file into one of those and checked that the runway is actually there?

If it is, I would try saving the file in that program (after making a backup!) and see if the runway appears in the FSNav database. Even if the compile screws up something else, you can always replace it with the original file after it's in the database.

    Hello Tom

    Thanks for your reply.

I must admit that my technical knowledge in these matters is somewhat limited.😏 ,So I am not quite what you are describing in your reply.

I have tried some things myself ,like reorganizing my add-on sceneries in what I think? Is the right priority ,unfortunately this had no effect on ybcs , but (I know not why)it did sort out another add-on problem at LIRF Rome. When trying to position my aircraft at runway 34 (I think it was 34) the plane would be positioned not on the runway but to one side of it. whether it was a result of my tinkering with scenery priorities I don't know, but now when setting up a flight from LIRF my aircraft is now positioned correctly on the runway.

Anyway back to YBCS ....just to confirm the main runway IS missing from FSnavigator (I tried running the FSNav database creator a few times but to no avail still no runway in FSNav. The runway IS visible in the SIM itself.

I can still create a flight plan from/to YBCS in FSNav but can only select the airport itself as a dep/arr point (Obviously as no runways present in FSnav to select.)

Anyway I hope all that makes some sense.

I did think I could disable this particular VOZ airport and just use the default fs9 offering ,but don't know how to do that.

I certainly don't want to disable all VOZ airports as that would of course give me the default YBCS but at the expense of losing all the wonderful VOZ offerings.

    Cheers Andy.

  7. I Found this post in FScom.

The OP got no takers .

    I have the same problem.

Any thoughts ,ideas ,work arounds etc........

    YBCS !!!

    Hello All,

I run FS2004 and FsNavigator with VOZ for the Australian Scenery. At Cairns YBCS I am missing the main runway in FsNav.

The secondary runway and all the Navaids are OK. It means that, when flying the B-737 or the A-320 I cannot enter a

course for an ILS to RWY15 in the FMS. The runway does appear in Fs2004 but not FsNav. Tried all I could... recreated

the database for FsNav, changed the AFCAD for YBCS to no avail. It is frustrating as I am a member of QVA, an Australian

Vitual Airline and my next Checkride to upgrade to CAT III just happens to be an ILS RWY15 at Cairns YBCS !!!

    Cheers...Claude/Andy

  8. Hey Guy's!

Does anyone know where i can find an operational A340-600 Panel?

Most planes come with a A321 or A380 panel, i had an A340-600 panel however, buttons were missing on the throttle quadrant.

Also, nothing on the overhead panel were simulated, these are Thomas Ruth aircraft.

    Hello

Not sure which panel you have at present, but doing a search in the library here at Fscom using A340 (in the Fsx panel's category)

turns up quite a few options and interestingly some fixes for panels with missing gauges.

Perhaps these fixes could be for the panel you mentioned in your post (with the missing items)

    Cheers Andy

  9. In the late 90s I remember an addon to FS98 that provided real ATC chatter. For the life of me I cannot remember what addon I used. I do remember that most of the chatter was from O'Hare and the surrounding Chicagoland area. I thought it as RealATC or FSFS, but after downloading and installing, the audio is not what I remember.

I specifically remember one ATC transmission that was "Post Chicago, American 468 190". This sticks out to this day because I was learning to fly at this time and hearing a pilot call departure "post" was interesting to a 17 year old.

Does anyone have any idea what addon I am remembering?

    Hello

Many years ago I used program called 'Enviro' that played ATC Wav files (originally developed for fs98 but I am sure I used it in Fs9)

I did a search in the library here at Fscom and it is still available.

Another one available here is called FSChatter .

    Cheers Andy

  10. I am truly stumped. I just spent an hour looking for the POSKY models. And please don't think I am a nubee. I just don't read the forums unless I need to find something are am having trouble with something.

I have flown almost entirely POSKY aircraft of repaints of there builds. Love them have never had a problem. So are that still around? or closed there studios? And why is it that no matter what, or how I do a search for POSKY, it leeds me to TDS. I tried a download of TDS. it truly SUCKS bad bad bad. I found another page POSKY, download the mega pack free ware it said POSKY in the info. NOPE. it was TDS. 2 problems. Very annoying copy right text thing first line in the aircraft.cfg file. Do not change or deleat this, or bad things will happen. It's a long line of crap that supposed to be the name and model manufacture of the aircraft. This is the line that ACARS reads and put in the pilots flight report. A va that I belong to keeps after me to change the aircraft if it is not reporting what it is.

    2. the flight Dynamics SUCK BIG time. on all the TDS models. Who are tds. and what happened to POSKY. Never ever had a problem with a POSKY model all these years.

    Thanks one Peved pilot

    Greg S.

Hello there are still plenty of poskies around ,here at FS.Com and there at Av..place as well.

The problem in locating them can be due to time. Posky closed it doors some years ago ,so if you search (as an example say for instance KLM 747 ) You will find that many of the most up-to-date results will quite likely be TDS ,Skyspirit etc. (I think but not sure ,but Skyspirit/TDS may have morphed out of Posky, and as the most recent freeware offerings they tend to trawl up first in any search) If it's Posky your after you may well find you need to go back a good few years in the library to locate them.

They are there....I have many and enjoy them.

    Cheers Andy.

  11. Hello Robin

I hope you get (very) well soon.

Some months ago you advised me on updating Windows 10.

I had been reluctant to upgrade from ver 18 something to the latest version of 10.

You gave the confidence to try.

My finger hovered over the update button with tremulous anxiety 😀 .

I pressed it ,it updated ,it took a long time ,I waited ,it finished .

And of course!........ there were no hiccups.

Fs9 ran just as well as it always has.

I have continued to keep 10 updated, with no problems encountered ,and Fs9 keeps going on its merry way.

    Cheers and thanks

    Andy

  12. Hello Paul

I am not an FSX user, but have followed your post with interest .

At one point you did seem to have got FSX (steam?) Up and running,if you could get to that point again ,why not just get some flight time in ,enjoy the sim, make sure in its basic form it works correctly and have some fun, THEN! think about add-ons sceneries ,aircraft etc etc

You can't give up now ,not after this epic post.

    Cheers Andy

  13. Hello All

For many months now i have been having a really irritating problem with the colours displayed in Fs9.

    This is what occurs....

When i have set up a flight and i am ready to go if i am in any size of windowed mode the colours i have selected (more saturated but not overly so)are displayed perfectly just as i want them, however! when i switch to FULLLSCREEN the colours become very washed out ,insipid and downright yukola .

I have tried all proposed solutions from sim sights ,NVIDIA forums ,FScom of course but nothing works.

BUT! i have found a solution of sorts....If Iam in FS9 and its full screen then as i mentioned above the display is washed out, but! if i hit the windows key plus D that immediately minimizes FS9 to the taskbar and brings me back to the desktop (now here's the funny bit)if i click on fs9 to restore it back from the taskbar ,it returns to its full screen status but! (and this is the weird bit ) it now DOES display my more saturated colour choices ,and i can enjoy my flight as planned. That isn't the end of it though, if at some point if i inadvertently right click on the screen at any point n the flight, it immediately becomes washed out again ,and i have to through the Windows plus D procedure again to restore the more saturated colours i prefer.

One other thing if the aircraft i am using at the time has a legitimate right click point (for instance Lee Hetherington TCAS gauge as an example ) that's fine the screen in that instance does not return to its washed out mode but remains saturated (the colours i have chosen ) via the Nvidia control panel.

my card is the NVIDIA GT730 (modest but performs very well with FS9.......9 being so old of course)

Has anyone here experienced anything like this?

I do notice in my net wonderings in an attempt to find a solution to this issue that there are many posts by gamers who have experienced this problem with games of there choosing (Not that FS9 is a game Sir! heaven forbid but a fine and wonderful sim that still has me mesmerised after all these years)

    Thanks a lot

    Andy.

  14. Hello

I use a freeware utility called Convimx.

Not sure if it works with X but i would imagine it does.

I like it because it will convert a whole aircrafts textures in one go rather than one at a time.

    Its pretty easy to use.

I worked it out so it must be :)

    Cheers Andy

  15. Hello again

I don't know if this will help or not (you may have tried already)

But I typed "how do I register FSX " into Google and it came up with all sorts of info that might ? Help.

As an Fs9 user I can't be sure ,but it may be worth a look at (some of the advice comes from Microsoft )

  16. Hello

I have just checked out PC Specilist, I notice they actually make a range of PCs specifically for Flight Simulators.

I assume this is the company you purchased your pc from and if this is the case then surely they can offer you some support ? after all you have forked out a large amount of money.

There website looks very professional , although I realise that means nothing really.

I am an fs9 user, but was drawn to your post because I really feel for your predicament having been involved in some FS stinkers myself in the past. I admire your tenacity in trying to resolve this problem and wish you good luck.

    Cheers Andy.

  17. No problems with the new MSFS. Don’t know about FS2004 though, but as you say.. this is the wrong forum.

You could make a restore point.. & update to 20H2

In the unlikely event FS2004 doesn’t work then just go back (or try FS2004 in an older compatibility mode?)

    Regards

    Steve

My apologies, my post was for the FS2004 forum ,but thanks for you reply.
