  1. I agree with you. FS9 is still my favorite, even 20 years later. With today's new hardware and graphics, it's rock solid, runs flawlessly, and can look absolutely beautiful. Even if you are only using freeware, it can still look absolutely amazing! Long live FS9!
  2. OOOooooooh YESSSSS!!!! These are absolutely beautiful! Thank you so much for sharing.
  3. Good morning Mark! SO... Yes he helped me get started on the right path (and a HUGE thank you to Avechelice). Unfortunately right about that same time, real-life threw a TON of issues my way regarding work and family needs, and I literally have not have a moment to try his advice. I just logged in here to look for a file before I start, and decided to check the Forum also. LOL So, with that said, I will update you all shortly I hope with excellent news of success. Fingers crossed!:D -Glenn
  4. FS2004 runs as beautifully and smoothly as ever before. And with all of the visual texture advances in add-ons such as the environments, weather, landscapes, etc., it can look absolutely stunning. I still completely enjoy flying it. -Glenn
  5. Hello Avechelice, I cleaned out my Inbox. (embarrassing) I've been working insane hours and haven't had a moment to get back here to check-in. Flightsim sent me a notice saying you were reaching out to me. I'm all ears now :) -Glenn
  6. Hello friends, I'm completely reinstalling all of my FS9 addons into a brand-new, Lenovo Legion5 laptop. I wanted to install my beloved REX2004 textures, but when I tried to do this, I am greeted with an error message (basically) saying the license cannot be verified because the store no longer exists. I researched a little through my old email files, found an address for Tim Fuchs, and emailed him requesting help with retrieving the software license. I provided all information from the original purchase. So far, I've not gotten a response. Does anyone else know of a method of contacting someone, or retrieving my license so I can get this REX item installed. The new laptop is a present for my father, who is 75 yrs old and really enjoys flying flightsimulator FS2004 and FSX. I do not know what else to do at this point. Thank you so much in advance for any advice or assistance anyone might be able to provide. (Admin) If this is the wrong place to post this question, please move it to the appropriate forum. Sincerely, Glenn Mullis
  7. Roger Wensley makes amazing scenery for sure. His stuff is always a delight to fly in & out of in FS2004. :)
  8. Darryl, I am almost speechless. WOW!! Beautiful pictures of a stunning flight. -Glenn
  9. Abel, these pictures are absolutely stunning! Really beautiful work sir. -Glenn
  10. Great job on this post Michael. Jan is still alive and doing well. I'm Facebook friends with him & Bianca. I haven't been around here either for a long long time because I have had my computer system issues fixed until recently, and my real-world job demands almost ALL of my time. (sadly not joking) I know Jan will enjoy this post when he sees it. :D -Glenn
  11. Absolutely gorgeous screenshots! -Glenn
  12. Thank you Doug for the advice. This possibility never occurred to me. My Legion 5 laptop shipped with a 500GB M.2 drive. MSFS2020 was initially installed on that C drive along with the OS, because my whole intent was to see if the Legion would run the new sim. I quickly realized this original drive would never be enough to hold the new sim, not to mention my other sims. So I ordered an additional 1TB M.2 drive and upgraded the RAM to 32GB. I used the Microsoft option offered to "move" MSFS2020 to the 2nd drive. It said everything was successful, and everything has been working perfectly through several of the MSFS2020 updates. Then a week after the last update, I suddenly had no hat switch in FSX. When I installed FSX, it was also installed to the 2nd larger drive. Maybe you are right. I probably need to format everything (to be safe) and start with a fresh install of everything. I created a special USB before using the laptop to restore it to factory status like it arrived. I think I may be looking at a complete reboot. At least then I can select the larger drive properly, which would've been the ideal location the first time. Thank you Doug. This might fix it.
  13.:confused::( So... I spoke too soon. Apparently the joystick only works for a few minutes correctly, even when plugged directly into the computer/laptop. I went to pan around the view to start my taxi sequence to the runway... and instantly I had the same issue as before. It will not pan around. It only moves forward/backward and raise seat view up/down. At this point I am just like... I don't know what to do.
  14. Well... guys, I have to report that I AM truly an idiot. :rolleyes:Geeeezzz. I just figured out what the answer was to my problem. I still don't know WHY it's causing it, but I figured out how to stop it. I've used a USB control hub for many, many years to plug all of my flight control units into, thereby freeing up most of my onboard USB slots on the computer, or laptop. This method has always worked great. However, it just occurred to me that I hadn't checked that possibility yet that the hub might be a conflict issue maybe?? I unplugged my joystick, and plugged it directly into one of my laptop USB ports. Instant success! :D The Hat switch is working correctly again in FSX. :(Wow. I feel like such an idiot. LOL Maybe if anyone else ever has this issue they will see this post sometime, and be able to fix their problem too like I did. I hope you all have a great day, and maybe this made you chuckle. I'm glad I figured it out. Now I can go enjoy some much needed flying time! :pilot: Have a wonderful Sunday everybody! -Glenn
  15. Hello my friends. It's Glenn. I need some help with a VERY frustrating joystick issue I've been fighting for weeks. I recently bought a new laptop (see specs) and installed the new MSFS2020. Everything looks amazing. Then I installed my Steam-Edition FSX, Orbx, Rex, etc. I've never seen FSX look so awesome in my life - WOW!!! Everything was great @ very high-end settings! Initially. Then suddenly for the 1st time since buying it over a decade ago, my trusty Logitech Extreme 3D Pro joystick malfunctioned. I no longer can use the Hat Switch to "Pan" around in views. It ONLY moved forwards/backwards and zooms rapidly IN & OUT. Only IF you are lucky in the moment, and can hit a 45* angle just right will it sometimes pan around, but at the wrong angle and direction. I never touched the control menu in FSX prior to the malfunction. I have researched, tried/re-tried clearing/assigning views, etc. through the FSX controls menu interface, and I downloaded the Logitech software in hopes this would fix it too. So far, nothing is working to restore my Panning ability in FSX. However... in using MSFS2020, the joystick performs perfectly as it should. ??????? Also, my CH-Products Flight Yoke still works perfectly in Panning mode as well. To further test things, I borrowed my dad's Logitech Extreme 3D Pro joystick. Exact same results. No Panning ability. When trying to assign the movement in the control setting menu, the window remains blank with an audio beep when pressing the Hat Switch on the joystick... but nothing shows up in the window as a selected control. It works perfectly on his FSX at his house. What in the world has happened??? Has anyone else ever experienced this issue, and how did you fix it? I would really appreciate any advice and help. I hate to bother anyone, but I am out of ideas here. -tired and confused.. Glenn
  16. Thank you so much!!! This should definitely help. Watching it now ;)
  17. I'm right there with you Mark... I always enjoy every single flight on my beloved FS9 simulator. It runs perfectly, looks absolutely beautiful due to all the advances in addons thru the decades, and it runs like silk. FS9 will always be my favorite!
  18. Update on this thread> I did finally get MSFS2020 to work properly. And I have been able to keep it fully updated. It works flawlessly on this laptop, and was automatically configured by MSFS2020 to "high-end" graphics settings BEFORE the upgrades to 32 GB RAM and a 1TB M.2 nvme PCIe drive. I moved the simulator over to the new, larger drive. The sim runs beautifully on this model of the Lenovo Legion 5 laptop. The Ryzen 7 4800H combined with the Nvidia GTX 1660ti is a great combo. I have noticed only a few stutters thus far in extremely dense scenery, or really heavy weather. I am super satisfied with it and VERY impressed! My ONLY issue with the whole MSFS2020 experience is..... I cannot for the life of me figure how to take and save a screenshot. I want to share them with you guys, but cannot figure how to do it. I cannot figure how to load repaints either properly (some texture weird glitches happening). I cannot find a manual either. I cannot figure how/where to tweak things like in FS9 and FSX. Bummer
  19. Hey there. Thank you for the information on the 1TB drive. I did some upgrades to my new laptop. Additions are = 1 TB M.2 NVME PCIe 32GB G.Skill DDR4-3200 RAM I use a Logitech Extreme 3D Pro joystick
  20. YESSS!! I am also experiencing the exact same issue. It is extremely frustrating, and I have not been able to figure how to fix it. I have the Logitech Extreme 3D Pro joystick... it has worked flawlessly for years with "0" problems. Since the last MSFS2020 update, my joystick hat switch no longer works in FSX (Steam edition) and it often says controller is not connected properly. No reassignment controls are working either to map buttons on the hat switch. Extremely strange.
  21. I still have it  ...along with all of the other weather products too.
  22. I'm right there with you too. Even though I am attempting to install the latest FS version (MSFS), I :o embarrassingly have a crap TON of $$$$$$$ invested in FSX-SE, mainly in Orbx products, etc. I can't afford to not keep it. As for FS9... It will ALWAYS remain on my system. It is still my favorite simulator :pilot: and I have a ton of $$$$ invested in it as well.
  23. :) Thank you so much Charlie. I really appreciate the link. I'm reading through it as much as I can get spare time between work, real-life and a brand-new grandson . Hopefully this weekend I can get something sorted out. I also noticed that Sim Update 5 has caused a lot of issues, including installation issues... so maybe I need to wait until next week? Hmmm... I think I may also upgrade the laptop with additional SSD drive (1TB) which should also help me not run out of room too quickly.
  24. I'm so embarrassed - I totally forgot to update my specs. I have a new 2021 Lenovo Legion 5 gaming laptop. Ryzen 5 5600X CPU, Nvidia GTX 1660ti 8GB GDDR6 GPU, 16GB DDR4-3200 RAM, 500GB PCIe SSD M.2, Windows 10 Home 64bit OS, 144mhz 300nits 1920x1080p screen. I'm planning a new desktop system later this year. I needed a new laptop first - my old one died 1.5 yrs ago.
