  1. My alienware was purchased in 2016, so its time for a new update on hardware. I will be waiting until winter of 2021 to make the ultimate machine for FS2020. Until then there will be some payware addon aircraft and most bugs will be fixed.
  2. I think it all comes down to which part of the world you mostly fly. In addition, I almost never fly the default aircraft, I go with high quality add-on aircraft. And if I frequent an airport, I get add-on scenery for that airport. Better to save that $60 and get add-on aircraft and scenery that will be better than default.
  3. By the way, I did purchase microsoft train simulator when It came out, and I liked it. Let’s say if they do entertain the idea of a train simulator, then it need not be 2 petabytes. They are only interested in the satellite scenery that is line of sight from the tracks to the horizon in all direction. Anything beyond the horizon is useless for a train simulator. Microsoft has the funds to fit a very high resolution camera on a plane and fly it over the tracks and get a very detailed aerial scenery for a Train simulator. In any case, hope they are reading this and will consider a train simulator on this technology in the near future.
  4. All that I know of the new flight simulator by Microsoft is from what I have read and from various youtube videos. With all that satellite scenery and AI taking over, I think Microsoft can expand their new simulator into well... Microsoft Train Simulator... Just lay over tracks on the satellite scenery, and now you have a whole world train simulator. Oh but wait. The water is so realistic too! Microsoft Ship/Boat Simulator, Now you can cruise the oceans on huge ships... The possibility is endless.
  5. The concept of flying cars has been around for a long time. And my opinion on the matter is that its a useless idea. From what I understand, a flying car is a vehicle that is both airworthy to be flying in the NAS and also street legal so it can be driven on a road (you can taxi around your C172 on the airport taxiways all day to practice taxing but you cannot taxi that C172 on the street even if it is wide enough, unless you landed there in an emergency and are going to takeoff. From an engineering perspective the flying care is not an issue but from a practical point of view it is more complicated than owing your own airplane. Your vehicle now must comply with both the FAA Regs and your local state DMV. If you get violated busting Class B in flight and your certificate is suspended for a month, can you still drive it around on the streets and vice versa with major traffic violation. What if you get into a car accident? Does the NTSB come in and investigate.... Quite frankly, flying cars are not that attractive as a stand alone airplane or a sand along car, whatever the make and model. When you mix the two it looks ugly. Anyways, what is your opinion?
  6. LOL, while you were distracted by the phone and wound up nose down in a hole, ATC is reminding you, that you made contact with ground. As il88pp suggested.
  7. Amazing explanations from this pilot. He is one of the best.
  8. Not near a flight simulator, but looked up SKBO on sky vector and the MEF on either side are 13K and 14.6K! Does straight in mean into mountain? I’ll give it try... The worst for me was just before Christmas. I was on a flight from KJFK to VIDP using a real world flight plan, using NAT, FMS with the most current cycle using a pay ware aircraft and had a real world software with moving map and all approaches on an iPad hooked up to flight simulator via WiFi, with pay ware weather add on etc... Some where over the Atlantic I had to divert. Not because I had a mechanical issue with the aircraft, NO, NO.... My wife said, it’s a beautiful day, let go to the park, we also need groceries too, it was rather warm for December that day. The closest airport was just an hour away, BGBW Narsarsuaq Greenland. I said give me an hour, figured it will take her that long to get dressed. BUT NO NO... Set up RINUM RNAV Y RWY 06, it was IFR. See how that works out for you.... Flew a non stabilized approach and landed.
  9. Hmm... seems like the company is French, so their reference system will be metric to begin with. Imperial is the afterthought!
  10. A conversion thing. 9449 meters = 31000.66 feet
  11. This one will work for me too....
  12. Pilatus PC-12 I love single engine propeller aircraft. And this one is just right for me. Not too fast, not to slow. Got a propeller and a Jet if you think about it. It can get into short runways. The range to is not bad, with just over 2000 miles can cross ocean by island hopping. Also can get into the flight levels.
  13. Almost all student pilots are taught "never to trust your fuel gauge..." Why is that the case? I have been driving for just over 10 years now and the fuel gauge in my car has never let me down. For the past few years I have been using real world weather addon's and plan my flight using a flight log, and the Headwind/Tailwind makes a huge difference. So my reasoning is that the fuel gauges in an airplane must be designed/built to a standard that is as good as a car, if not better! The conclusion I came to is that you should never express the fuel you have as a function of volume, but express it as a function of time by consulting the POH for the power/altitude/temp settings. (of course, never forget to take a peek in the tank for color, contaminants, water) Is this reasoning correct?
