  1. So everyone's P3d v4 runs off my hard drive? Your logic defies logic I'm afraid Jorgen. You may want to bow out of this discussion as you're hurting your credibility. Of course a file on my hard drive could get corrupted without it happening on anyone else's hard drive. I can only assume you had difficulty with my english in the ask.
  2. Thanks for the input vgbaron. No joy on the outcome though. When I delete the xml file and it rebuilt, it still didn't work. I did a repair with the install file and it worked once but not the second time I started the program. I guess "didn't work" is inaccurate. It does respond to an up, up/left, and left input which is what it would do before the repair. Nothing else on the hat however. All other joystick controls work as assigned. What is a head scratcher is that I have added no new software since well before it stopped working. The most recent was Australia 2 from orbx but it worked many times after that install. I use none of the software you mentioned. The standard.xml lacks any axis data at all on the first startup and I can see no noticeable problems on the second startup that would conflict with the hat input though the file is 3 times larger. The repair on the install totally messed up my textures, so I am guessing I will be uninstalling - reinstalling. Hopefully it will work after that. V3 works fine so something in V4 got corrupted. Sigh. . . back to the drawing board.
  3. This is hardly a relevant response to the question. What happened in your world is not the standard for every individual though I'm glad you've never had the problem, which is probably why you don't seem to have a solution. I did NOT ask about a hotfix. I asked about the joystick hat stopping to relate to the controls in the program. I hate to repeat myself but since this respondent obviously didn't actually read the issue as I first listed it, I will repeat myself. Both joysticks work fine with all simulators. They still work fine with all other simulators except the V4 apparently somehow stopped relating to the hat in my joysticks. All other controls work fine) It is in all probability an assignment issue, but I can't get the hat to be reassigned to the joystick. When I try to reassign, nothing happens. Anyone who has experienced this happening and has a useful suggestion, please respond. Also, in the controls where would the assignment take place? Thanks
  4. For some reason the joystick hat stopped working in P3d V4. Its not a hardware problem as they (either joystick) work fine in any other Flight Sim including V3. I hit the reset to default. Still no joy. Was using Microsoft Sidewinder Precision Pro when I experienced the issue at a program start up. Switched to my Thrustmaster and it responded identically so it must be an assignment issue within the program. However, in either case I am unable to reassign the hat though I am unsure if I picked the right settings in the controls menu. View does respond to the keyboard. Has anyone had this problem and if so how did you fix it? What should I be looking at in the controls? Thanks in advance.
  5. The answer to this question has changed with the introduction of better add-ons since I answered it last. I did an around the world in 80 aircraft quite a while ago, making use of the many fine shareware and my hanger of purchased aircraft. Recently however, the addition of ORBx scenery has unlocked a look at the world with greater and more accurate detail. I have begun a year on each continent flying low, slow, VFR and exploring all the well done geographically more correct landscape. ORBX has nicely kept ahead of me releasing more and more detail to each area. The addition of FS Dream teams XPOI addon also highlights a lot of the landmarks in each area, naming and showing the location of all the local landmarks for me. It lets me research the area in greater detail. Almost feels like being there. With better hardware, seems like the simulated world of flying will keep me occupied for some time. Health has taken me out of real cockpits and I am glad I can keep flying in simulators. :)
  6. Thanks vgbaron! Right on and animations now proper!:)
  7. Actually I only have one problem, mallcott, not several. I know the picture shows a lot of surf animations functioning improperly, which I suppose could make it seem like 'several problems', but each is not a separate problem. They are all the same single problem. The only add-ons I installed prior to the problem were through ORBX which is supposed to install only for the proper sim (Big Bear and Real Earth Netherlands currently on sale) and the FSDreamTeam which updates every time it feels like it for its ensemble which updates any given Sim by type . At least so it says. Any idea which file is corrupted? Reinstalling P3d V4 is definitely not an option at this point. I do have a pristine original install file copy on a backup drive but don't want my replacing files indiscriminately to disable anything else. Hopefully someone can point me to the proper file? I did find the FSX issue which again was a corrupted 'effects' file in an update for FSX AICarriers but in that case it was the ships wake that went vertical, and replacing the corrupted file fixed it. Thanks in advance to anyone with the knowledge.
  8. Seems I ran into this once before with FSX, but I couldn't find the post. For some reason the surf animation is now displaying vertical coming out of the water in my P3d V4. Anyone remember how this is resolved? Thanks in advance.
  9. Hmmm. Second post for you. Glad you are ultra proud of yourself and I'm certain your carrier project offers nice options for the interested. Since its just your second post, Im sure the members here will give you a pass on your denigrating those who enjoy the sport of screen shots. The thread here, however, is meant to be a place to share your ways of enjoying FSX. Not an opportunity to take pot shots at the way others keep it interesting. You might want to keep within the heart of the forum in future posts.
  10. And here I thought I was the only one that did that! :) Always feel a little guilty. Its also rather fun to climb facing the winds while drifting backwards. Of course my super cub would get its wings ripped off in real life but . . . . I make certain to save any flights with the weather to use for challenging flying.
  11. Yup. Speedbrakes worked on Aerosoft's with the LM stock F-16 still lacking them. I should mention I installed the FSX version and not the P3d version. My areosoft exe file gives either option. To install the fsx install into version 4 you have to have a copy of the FSX.exe file in the root directory.
  12. Aerosoft's F-16 seems to work nicely in V4. I'm not an F-16 pilot so I can't attest to its flight model but it works as good in V4 as it did in FSX. Intalled in V4 all aerosoft functions are as before. I just took a quick flight and look see, but seems to fly the same.
  13. Thanks Vic. Knowing what to look for I also found
  14. It took me forever to get all of that on. No easy single switch. Spent a while trying all the available switches that related to HUD on the mouse-over. Not sure I can do it again. I imagine after one gets used to a real F-16 cockpit it will be easier. It took a couple of combo's to pull it off. Would be nice to get a manual on it. In the process I deployed the brake chute and gave up. :)
  15. His post indicated he uses his desktop (PC) for FS and his laptop for work. I pretty much do the same. Hefty desktop. Mediocre laptop. :)
  16. There are so many artistic scenery creators who post their work free of charge on this site that I never tire of trying out different airports they develop. That and testing out aircraft that they create. Never ending supply of new work to try and it never gets old.
