Those look like textures only - but the QW757 is your best bet for a P3D 757. The price is good, too.

They probably are, just with a different extension.

Hi Namvet1971,
So, my point is that if you're having trouble installing FSX (gold or any other edition), into Windows 10, it's probably because it's not compatible with Windows 10. I haven't checked in a long time, but I could be wrong.
You are wrong. Plenty of folks run FSX under Windows 10, including myself.
I hope you understand what I'm saying. If you've found info that says FSX and Windows 10 work together, please let me know. Will a screenshot work? :)
FWIW, FSX while it does cause some heating of the CPU isn't the end of the world. It's certainly nothing compared to video encoding.

How about adding a second partition on the drive? No sense wasting 2TB.

I guess that's the way the system works but wish there was a way to install without it going in the listed programs, just to trim things down I mean.
Getting listed in installed programs involve registry entries of around 1K in size.

Must admit I never knew there was a dll for removing the jaggies, I am always trying to alter my graphics card settings.
And there's where you're supposed to do it.
Must look more into it for that file, I would like to know if there is one for W10 and you mentioned the one for W7.This is a great way to destabilize your system or get another virus.
Cheers!

Read wim's post above - there are two installs detected. Either way, putting in the complete folder structure doesn't do anything with FSX - you need to edit the correct DLL.XML.
Rather than blame the installer, is an FSUIPC4.LOG file being created? Which FSX-SE install are you running? You appear to have both.
Cheers!
-
Okay, it installed. Is there an FSUIPC4.LOG file that says what happens when FSX runs?
Cheers!
-
Have you run the FSUIPC installer? With FSX and above, you can't just put the DLL into the Modules folder like you could with FS9. If you have run the installer, is the DLL.XML entry correct?

people that have an interest in a true virtual airline. I think the term as been used so loosely for so many years that VA is being used interchangeably with flying club and multiplayer group.
This is getting close to the "no true Scotsman" fallacy. I don't think there's any reason a virtual airline needs to have payroll, maintenance, aircraft routing, etc. like you say. If anything, plenty of virtual airlines tried this 20 or so years ago and it was not successful for a variety of reasons we can discuss.
At the end of the day, a VA is what a VA is. I agree that there can be some overlap between flying clubs at VAs especially at the "fly whatever, whenever" places, but who am I to judge whether they are a "true" virtual airline?

in some views you notice the jaggies in others not so much but I can live with it.
I suspect there's a limit to what the Intel GPU can do, especially with no dedicated VRAM. Glad it got better, at least.

In the sim I turned off ant-aliasing
That's your problem right there. If you don't want jagged lines, turn it on.
Also when it says 'Use application settings' I presume it means from the panel above not the actual sim?Nope, you have it backwards. It means "use the settings from the 3D application (ie. FS9) rather than the driver".
Cheers

What is your anti-aliasing set to in the sim, since you cannot override it (beyond disabling it) at the driver level?

Can Disk Management see the partition(s) on the drive? What file system does the drive use?

Can the old PC read the drive?

Sounds like intermittent hardware failure to me. You probably need a new drive.

That won't fix a hardware issue. Either the cable is loose, or there's a hardware failure.

If I recall, the gauges were based on FS98 interfaces and not compatible with FSX.

I'd appreciate shots of Sublogic flightsim on an Apple ][ emulator.

you will not be able to do all of that list in FSX at those frame rates because this video card will not be able to do all that.
My 1070 wouldn't even ramp up to full clocks at 1440p using FSX. A 1080Ti will be fine.

which is very different than an i7 2700K (a ten year old CPU) that you listed.
He listed a 1700 socket, which is correct. Alder Lake is LGA1700.

He needs to install FSX SP2. He's running the original, unpatched version. He'll also get noticeable performance increases by going to at least SP1, but a lot of FSX compatible software demands Sp2.
Cheers!

My i7-9700K can happily run at 4.9Ghz (or 5.1 without AVX) without issues, only a minor dab of voltage.
Generally speaking, the performance improvements have come from increased instructions per clock, or less blocking on certain situations (like a cache miss or branch misprediction). The P4s were pretty notorious for their very long pipelines meaning long stalls when a branch was not taken as predicted.

4GB Patch

He's referring to GameBoster or other memory reduction tools. I tend to agree - a single Chrome tab can easily consume 100+MB of memory on my machine, but with 32GB it doesn't matter at all.
Really, anyone with a machine less than a decade old should no longer be memory constrained with any flight simulator.
