  1. Hello. The C HD is 3/4 empty & is solid state. FS9 has been as always been as smooth as silk. I was simply adding the switches ringed in red at bottom left to a 1.37mb BMP. What's the swap file ? I've not heard of it before.......... One thing I should have mentioned is when I started the W7 machine it went into Check Drive. After the restart & started the sim & got the memory message..........could this be responsible ?
  2. I have FS2004 (12.9 GB), in a W7 machine with 12.00GB RAM. I was edting a panel. All looked well & was working. I closed the machine down. 2 hrs later it wouldn't start & gave a 'run out of available memory....disk cleanup, etc' message. I've not installed anything new - years ago a new scenery caused this problem - so I assumed I'd done something with the panel that FS9 didn't like. I removed the aircraft but that doesn't help. I've looked on-line for an answer but don't see it. I've put this panel in a FS9 (11.4 GB) in a Vista machine with 4.00GB RAM & it' fine. My ? is: Is there a way of finding out what the problem is/could/might be ? TerryW

    Wonky ATC ?

FS2004. En route to EGHH a UK provincial airport. ATC gave me clearance to land on RW8. I'm on ILS approach & 15 miles away. At 5.5 miles my altitude goes off as I'm told to land.....then a 737 is given permission to take off. I assumed it would be gone when I arrived but it was a quarter of the way to take off. A mile (?) away I'm told to go around. This is not an unusual occurance. Is this normal flying experience ? I was surprised to be told to land then another told to take off. Has my ATC got a bug?
  4. You're absolutely right ! Thank you !!
  5. I want a small overhead to appear at position 2, top right corner but despite my having 'position=2' on the cfg it appears at 7 in the middle at the bottom of the screen. Despite rewriting it it stays at postion 7. Does anyone have a fix for this problem?
  6. I have golden wings 3 & used it for all my WW2 airfields. Once I had a serious problem & tried a delete & the copy & paste from a fair copy. It worked a treat. I've done this on 3 occasions for FS2004 as well. Everything worked beautifully. 1 was Vista & the others were W7. I do do some housework I hasten to add before pasting. I did once a few years ago properly install FS9 & the pasted my saved fair copy. As for the shorts 360, the vista machine was malfunctioning. I'm going to reinstall. It's flying well in Windows 7.
  7. 2 weeks ago in the vista machine ATC started giving me landing permission & whilst floating over the perimeter fence giving another aircraft permission to t/o & telling me to go around. I moved to do the vagar approach with the Mike Stone Short 360 & had trouble slowing down........never had that experience before...... I Uninstall FS & then do some cleaning before copy & pasting from a good fair copy & like you it's on a seperate dedicated but internal drive......works a treat when I've done it before. Keep up the good work!! Terry.
  8. Thank you. I think the problem was a dodgy fs in the vista machine I use for editing things. It was behaving perfectly in a windoze 7 machine when I checked it yesterday. I'm going to reinstall the sim for a fresh start.
  9. thanks for info. I'll check it all out & get back to you.
  10. I used another computer this morning (W7) & all seems well......smooth 360 Rw 30 landing. I'll check the Vista machine I used yesterday (I make my panels, etc with it) to see if FS2004 is still playing up. ILS was doing odd things...............
  11. Starting a slow descent 30 miles from Vagar at 3250 ft at 250 mph with Mike Stone's Shorts 360 crossing the coast at 1200 ft heading for runway 30 gave me a fast touch down.............I've noticed some of Mike's aircraft are prone to not slowing down enough. The Lancer is fine though......
  12. the particular machines I want to slow down quicker don't have spoilers.................power off wheels down & flaps full don't slow enough. I'll have to hunt for a cfg editing tutorial as well. I'll look at the air file too.
  13. Of course but I did say 'the throttle is closed & gear & flaps are down'..............
  14. I have 2 or 3 aircraft that don't loose speed quickly enough when the throttle is closed & gear & flaps are down = how can I increase the drag effect ?
  15. Thank you. I thought there was a problem with the top left corner but having seen it in situ in a the panel of my Bolton Paul P111 I see the aurthor has rendered the rounded corner shiny & rellecting light. I've used it in another dark panel & being smaller the shiny corner looks odd. Now I know there's no problem I'll take a look but not do any editing. Thanks again for your help.
  16. Hi, I've not looked at the gau file or done anything yet.....those 4 files are in the Gauges folder. I still have to get that gaubmp2 tool.
  17. OK. I assume you mean the Gauges folder? I've found this fsd_warn.parkbrake.gau plus 3 others with _0001, _0002 & _0003 appended. If I have the right gau I assume the texture is embedded in it because everything has .gau or .cab attached.
  18. I hope someone with a greater knowledge of FS2004 than I have can help me. In the gauges folder I have a fsd_warn.parkbrake gauge that lights up a green oblong light on the panel when the brake is on. Where would the texture for this light be kept ? It's not part of the autobrake in this snap. Thank you.
  19. what ho tiger....of course! I am a dunce ;-( Having looked I see it's the air file of the Beech King Air 350 !!
  20. This air file doesn't have a 505 engine data section. Has anyone else come across this anomaly ? Is there a good reason for its omission ?
  21. Thank folks....I saw this 'autothrottle_takeoff_ga=0' so changed it to '=1' and now the IAS button lights up. Thanks too for the technical info. I stared this topic to find out about the non-fuctioning button & have learned more that I thought I might !! I'll check Molina's Dash 8-400 panel out so thanks for that. Cheers & thanks again.
  22. Hello.....I tried that but the IAS button still doesn't respond
  23. I'm using Hanno Fring's great panel in Mike Stone's atr 72-500 & I have a question about the autopilot......the buttons turn on as expected except the IAS (speed hold) button. I expected it to work & wonder why it doesn't? I can't see how to engage it....can anyone tell me? The aircraft cfg file has this: [autopilot] autopilot_available=1 flight_director_available=1 default_vertical_speed=1000.0 autothrottle_available=1 pitch_takeoff_ga=8.000000 autothrottle_arming_required=1 Thanks.
  24. How big is the inititial dowload file? I've been told 14,000+ MB...........
