  1. Thanks for that. That gets me about half-way to being able to navigate the way I want. I had been in Windowed mode, as I like to be able easily to step out of the game if I need other apps on the PC, such as this forum! In Windowed mode you don't get those options at the bottom of the screen, only visible while in Full-screen mode. In full-screen mode there seems to be no way to Minimize in order to get at the Desktop. You have to go back into Options, select Windowed mode, save, come back out before you can get your Desktop. All a bit convoluted.
  2. I seem to be unable to navigate my way easily around the various screens - principally, getting back from being in an active flight to the page where I can select a different aircraft or airport or weather conditions and so forth. Pressing ESC gets me to the page with three choices - General, Assistance and Controls. Pressing ESC again takes me back to the flight. There's no 'Home' option so I'm stuck. I can't see how to simply cancel the flight I'm in and return to the Home page to make some new selections or whatever. And clicking the 'close program' X, top-right, closes the program with no chance to change your mind. What am I missing?
  3. I haven't, as yet, got round to the issue of the Saitek panels, which I've valued enormously with FSX, using SpadNext as the driver/interface. But firing up SpanNext now, it (of course) doesn't recognise the new FS20 so it can't connect. So, can we expect/hope that SpadNext will provide an update/patch?
  4. I think the OP means that he/she would like to be able to set a permanent seat height, that doesn't need to be re-set each time you climb aboard, and which may be different for different aircraft - ie customise the seat height per aircraft, not the same for all. Is there a way?
  5. I found I could download the installer but not the package (after the 'Press any key') unless I disabled the Firewall. Not the Anti-virus but the Firewall. Then the download started fine. Worth a try
  6. Maybe I've missed mention of the firewall as an issue. Today I purchased MSFS from the MS Store and did the basic Installer download. When I tried to run that, it kept freezing up. Then I thought to disable the firewall. No sooner done than the Installer started and the packages download is now happily in progress. Simples.
  7. I'm one of those who have chosen to wait a few days and scan these forum threads for 'how-to-fixit' snippets rather than joining the crowd floundering about trying to make it work. Lots is being invested in the hope that MS and Asabo will fix all these little annoyances. Do people remember how we all felt, not long after FSX came out, when MS washed its hands of the product and it became increasingly difficult to find anyone who could explain, let alone fix some of the deeper issues? But let's keep optimistic. In a few days I'll take the plunge. My 12-yr old grandson wants to see the 'fantastic new version of Flightsim on Grandpa's computer' and resume his flying lessons!
  8. That all looks good and very reassuring. It's a real pain when certain apparently knowledgeable commentators (eg RealSport) get it all wrong and spread inaccurate information. Like so many out there I'm looking forward to setting off up the new learning curve and hopefully, in time, to start contributing add-on material even if only in a small way. That's the way FlightSim has grown and evolved and should continue to do so.
  9. I'm being a bit slow here, but I can't see anywhere that it explicitly states that flying in and out of any of the 37,000 airports/airfields/airstrips will be just the same (I mean in terms of there being solid and level aprons, taxiways, runways, navaids, ATC, proximity to nearby scenery, trees and other hazards) as the 'hand-crafted' airports. I realise and accept that they cannot all be exact and accurate replicas, until the third-party people get on the job. Are there some of the promotional videos that show normal aircraft activity in and out of any of those 37,000 non-hand-crafted airports? Seeing would then be believing.
  10. I hope that link is misleading! To quote from the RealSport page: "Microsoft Flight Simulator will feature a total of up to 40 airports available for you to use depending on the edition you purchase. Every single airport in the world can be seen, but only a handful will allow you to takeoff and land." This definitely is not the impression given on the actual MSFS Videos that have been promoting the product. Yes, there will be a range of airports that will be rendered at very high realism levels, while every other airport will be there, just not quite so true to RW, but definitely usable. It would be crazy to move from, say, FSX where you can use any of the many many thousands of airports/airfields/airstrips throughout the world, to a world with only 40 usable places to take off or land. Have I got this right?
  11. And, yes, has there been much if any mention of liveries to go with the standard aircraft? It seems to me that my modest skills, developed over the years using FSRepaint and such, to create new liveries, will all be redundant. Does anybody know if the aircraft have basically the same model/liveries structure, or are we going to have to start the learning curve all over again?
  12. I'm not sure that jkeim got a straight answer to the problem, which is one I've noticed, and on other aircraft as well. When the 'view' is changed to show the aircraft from outside, it does a little double or triple hop before settling down. Nothing to do with landing or speeds - it happens when the a/c is at rest. Can be any size of a/c. I can't remember if it used to happen on FSX before I moved to Steam.
