  1. We disagree on that, clearly had very different experiences. What I'm defending here isn't so much that FS2020 is great - it certainly has issues, and they aren't hard to find. What I am defending against however is people who have zero hours in it coming in and saying what it is and what it is not based entirely on opinions they have read, or watched on youtube. And there is a LOT of that going on. It is certainly not a bad simulator, it is certainly not a kiddie eyecandy sight seeing game. It is in fact a good sim that is going to need some elbow grease to get great. But, anyone showing up expecting the marketing hype to be true is 1) going to be a little disappointed, and 2) kind of a fool for believing marketing hype. This is not a problem unique to this product, or even unique to the software industry. Marketing is a short phrase meaning 'lie to people to get money'. The sim is a great foundation for what should be the next few years to a decade. It is every bit as good and better than any previous version --- But, it does require relearning a lot of UI stuff, and yes, right now it has release bugs... None are fatal problems. They are bugs. They should have been better addressed before release, ,but they weren't. Waiting a couple months to buy this sim would be a wise move for many people. Thats a fact. But the sim doesn't suck. It's really very good.
  2. I haven't noticed a fuel consumption bug in the GA planes, the Citations have an issue, and the turboprops are a bit weird too... But the pistons seem fine, the problem is that by default they only have a half tank of gas... So you need to go in there and adjust that before flight. There are a lot of weird things like that... for instance why is the camera drone defaulted to 4% of its available speed, everytime I use that thing I have to set the speed to 100% just to go get the shot I want. 4% works if its attached to the airplane, because it has its speed relative to the aircraft... But if you want to leave the plane on the ground and go do some shot with the drone, its an extra step every time. The fuel thing for the piston planes seems arbitrary. But it's one of those things, once you know you're not getting a full tank right from the start, then you know to check it. Good habit to be in anyhow, at least in real world.
  3. Ok, my changes are now available in the Files section listed as "MSFS Southern California Canyons And Mountains Vegetation Adjust"
  4. A lot of stuff is all over the internet. You clearly don't own it... it works far better than any other version of FS I have ever had, and I have owned every one of them since FS2. Yes, it has issues. But it is not unusable. Do you remember how bad the default airliners were in old versions? Yeah.. They are that bad. But do you remember how the GA stuff always worked just fine? Yeah, it still does... Don't stand up old versions too proudly. They all had their hard starts that have been cushioned in our memory by the passage of decades. FS9 is as much like FS2020 as a tomato is like an apple because they are both red. As far as my screenshot, it has been reduced by 4x its original quality and taken down from HDR because... well.. FS.com file size requires it and HDR doesn't capture well to SDR unless you're some kind of photo-editing master... I am not one. I can't help you with your disappointment, but I assure you that you can't play FS9 at 4k HDR, so please.. be real.
  5. Not without $500 worth of 3rd party mods you couldn't. Be real.
  6. No, it didn't, it was a complete disaster, MS was slow as molasses to fix it. 3rd party vendors made it what you remember. Not MS. MS was then and is today incapable of dealing with anything at a level of 'weeks' and can only deal with things on the level of 'quarters' and only if they want your business. ATC was better... True. Frames were way worse, sim performance was atrocious, weather was a joke. FS2020 is a huge leap forward, but still very over promised. It has it's glaring holes. But to suggest that FSX was better on launch day? No. If you think that, you weren't there.
  7. A good pilot calculates his fuel burn before he even gets in the plane... try to do better, man. It's a sim, not a game. Real pixels could have been hurt by your lack of planning. :p
  8. Happy to help. Pure luck I had watched that vid last week, I don't have the honeycomb, just have been thinking about it and watching a lot of youtube... You got lucky on your timing that I had that in my box of tricks... But I'm really happy it fixed you up.
  9. You could assume that, our you could know that was a VFR VOR to VOR flight from North Vegas to Santa Ynez in real weather (100+ temps and a little hazy).. A couple hours of flight flawless. But yes, my friend, it's just a sunset shot... rock on my hater... rock on. Yep, the upper air wind problem appeared, but they're working on that as they have said.... I always forget that FSX was perfect on day one :D Ever flown anything heavier than your office chair? Or just come around to spew about stuff you "had the opportunity to evaluate" (quote you from earlier in this thread)... Language that pretty much anyone can recognize as meaning "well, I had an hour or so to fart around with it, and not really do anything meaningful..."
  10. No, seriously, it was really hot here today and there was a lot of rough air over those mountains... I want a refund perhaps!
  11. No, seriously its the worst sim ever... Terrible I have to suffer this kind of flying....
  12. Ok, assembling and uploading... including hjcoelho (Matheus Molinari) with credit to him as I made a few adjustments to species he did not adjust... But his work is root to mine. Will advise when its up.
  13. If there is any interest, to those who are using this very awesome tree fix, I have adjusted the Biome for the Southern California mountains to make them look a little less like a Southeast Asian rain forest to looking a little more like Southern California. My fix is very similar to this tree size fix, and is intended to work with this tree fix. Basically took the two coastal and interior canyon biomes and adjusted the density of the foliage. Let me know if there is any interest in this.
  14. The overgrowth of the world is a riot... Between that and the weird artifacts of the photogrammetry process... WIth half melted buildings and cars, it really contributes to making the world like like the humans all died in a terrible war, and nature has taken over... Its like the primal forest meets Fallout4.
  15. Why does this thread exist? JohnnyJohnJohn, you threw in some remarks that were intended to create heat, you bolded each of them to make sure nobody could miss them... and they were "XPlane", "P3d" and "Karens"... Don't act like you didn't know what fire you were starting... Come on Inuss, you knew exactly what sim he was talking about. If he's going to be honest, you should too. The old and the new should probably try to get along rather than just try to get into contests with each other.
  16. I was pretty happy to see the variety of GA singles, far better than what we saw in FSX, and way more interesting... Would have liked to see the float beaver again, but hey... what can you do. 3rd Party players will fill the gap pretty soon. The Piper singles are some of the most popular planes in the world, and you can be sure someone will have one available pretty fast.
  17. Already told you, you can save flights in progress, stop trolling. Do you work for X-Plane or something? You clearly don't own this sim, but have a lot of wrong info about it.
  18. check all your device mappings, could be a conflict with another device (roll axis assigned to more than one device). And of course check your control calibrations in the windows 'game controllers' section.. beyond that, I think we'd need more info from you on what you are using, etc.
  19. Thats a lot simpler, sure wish we had a manual for that kinda stuff. However, if I reset view even with that, it goes back to default, so the other info is still useful. Thanks.
  20. Found it on my own, posted the how to at https://www.flightsim.com/vbfs/showthread.php?325020-How-to-change-default-pilot-head-position
  21. To save a new default view position, find the aircraft folder and the cameras.cfg in my case that was at this location for the (steam install, your YMMV), as always your decision to edit files is YOUR decision, and I'm not responsible if you mess it all up. So take backups. C:\Users\\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft Flight Simulator\Packages\Official\Steam\asobo-aircraft-c172sp-classic\SimObjects\Airplanes\ Select the folder for the plane you want, in this case I was working with the C172... In the cameras.cfg I changed these lines in the 'Pilot' camera definition. The values shown are my new values, they are not the originals... The value for the pilot head height is the Y value (middle of the three shown), and then Pbh is pitch/bank/heading relative the aircraft, so by setting -10 in the first value, it gets a little head down angle. InitialXyz = 0.03, 0.12, 0.15 InitialPbh = -10, 0, 0 I find this head position to be very close to how I sit in the real C172, hope it helps some of you.
  22. what I'd like to hear if someone has discovered, is if there is a way to change the default view that happens when you reset (such as in an aircraft config, or something).... Because one old fact of life that still exists in this version is that the nice folks at MS are all about three and a half feet tall, and can't see over the dashboard. But us real full sized humans can see over it. I like to move my view up a bit, but I have to do it every time I hit my view reset... Anyone know the trick?
  23. I know that was directed at Kap, and not me, but for you to pretend that you've got nothing to do with the tone of these posts is straight up comedy. From the title and right on along, you've been pretty combative. As far as agree vs disagree, that only counts for things that are opinion or perception, such as 'don't like flight model', or 'don't like the janky trees'. When you start saying the game lacks features it factually does have, then you're either uninformed, or deliberately concealing something for your own benefit. BTW, with regard to the replay -- You're correct that it no longer has the flight recorder. That would be a nice feature. I had forgotten about that one in the older version. There is no reason I can imagine that they would be unable to add that if there was enough demand for it. But if you don't post it on their forum, they are never going to know, are they? Anyhow, some of the stuff you've said really makes me wonder if you even bought it. You say things that feel like you just get it from someone elses post, and don't personally know. This is why I think you're trolling.
  24. 44 posts in 10 years on this forum, most of them have been trolling the last few days. Someone comes along and point for point calls you wrong and now I'm a fan boy... No, just delivering some facts to your alternate universe. If anyone here needs a label, its the troll.
