  1. Very nice freeware available which I’m sure everyone has read about. Very nicely done. No FPS issues and it looks great. 210 downloads here and there on the first day alone it’s available. Not bad for a ‘nobody uses a 15 yr old sim’ any more. :)
  2. AH...thats what happened. I downloaded a CFG file somewhere not checking those details. So if I have a dual core - i3 - which core is it being locked too?
  3. Probably. And can’t remember. I could delete it and see if better performance. I had it set for 84, but it was stuttery and low FPS. Changing it to 4 improved things quite a bit. But perhaps without it, I’d get the same pretty descent performance. I’ll test later and see what happens.
  4. Ok thank you. Although I’ve seen definite improvement setting the correct value - for me - in FSX. most other tweaks I’m hard pressed to see much of a difference. I guess I’ll just leave it alone for FS9.
  5. The affinity can be permanently set in the FSX cfg. But FS9 doesn’t accept the Job Schedular line. Either use the affinity program or set it in task manager. I wonder if anyone else has had success with a dual core affinity setting in FS9.
  6. Ah ok. Must be what the program listed as ‘cores’. Still, worse performance compared to the improvements with FSX. Different coding I guess.
  7. I’ve recently been messing around with the affinity mask setting in FSX. I never found it successful until I realised I was using the wrong setting in the FSX cfg. After changing it I got much better performance. Maybe 10 FPS more and smoother all around performance. Quite significant I thought. FS9 though is the opposite. Since you can’t put the same job scheduler line in the cfg, I use the affinity tool available. I have an i3-4370. Dual core. Using the 2CPU setting, I get worse performance and more stutters. Interestingly the affinity tool program says I have 4 cores. So I’m guessing something is not correct with the 2 core setting?
  8. It must be better using it then what I see because videos of people using it looks horrible and unrealistic. Seems way too many movements for my liking.

    Glacier Bay Blurry

Maybe a scenery file is conflicting somewhere. BGL thingy. Or a texture. Can you remember what you installed last before this?
  10. It is? How much faster does it open Word? I could save precious milliseconds moving on from my 'obsolete' W7. Maybe I need to 'upgrade' to this magical OS...
  11. Just stay with W7 until you HAVE to 'upgrade'. Unless you need to use a program now that requires it, why 'upgrade'? Unsupported? I havent had 'updates' on for 4-5 years now. Works like a charm.

    FS9 Hidden Gems

Unless you’re eddytroit who hates the community as everyone ‘takes’ and doesn’t ‘share’. Now there’s irony for ya. But thanks OP for sharing some nice freeware add-ons.
  13. Fs9 more then suits me. I have FSuX with all the mods. Doesn’t do it for me at all. Only reason I’d try FSX version 2 - or P3Dud as it’s called I think - is to use Just Flights 747 Classic assuming it actually is any good. X-Pain - tried it and it was awesome. Not. (I had to put that because if you write how terrible it really is, your posts get deleted. I thought that was only happening at JimYoungsAvsim and his merry men and his PMDG or nothing else domain. Guess not). Maybe if FS12 runs ok, and has decent add-ons worth flying - Classic 747, 727 etc, I may switch. Otherwise, no.
  14. I recall having issues also with the date change after daylight savings. Thus time no problem but now I think either my PSU or M/B have failed so I got greater issues to think about. Sorry, no help.
  15. And it hasn’t worked for two months? Come on mate. Get real. They have a support forum where they can help you. It works. I smell something fishy...
  16. FSGRW is a great program. Works well, is current and has good support. Rarely is there connection issues. Plus it can used with the other platforms.
  17. I’ve noticed the stutters from just about ALL the videos. Right from the beginning. But not usuall when FSX users convinced themselves that low FPS would equal ‘smooth’. Stutters and low FPS is the new norm.
  18. What? P3D was released NOT for entertainment value? The Titanic didn’t sink either eh? L O L
  19. Been done years ago. Fsx sux. P3d - which is fsx with a new name sux. Same horrible bland scenery. I spend most of my time trying to bring fsx up to Fs9 standards but give up. Just not going to happen. The best B200 king air, 737NG, 741/742, 744, 748, DC-10 and who knows what else are on Fs9. My fsx grows cobwebs.

    FSDT KLAX fps woes

Yes it’s the FSDT scenery. It’s already mentioned several times as to the fps issues in the past with it which the developer vehemently denies. I guess I’ll have to just keep removing scenery files and see what causes the FPS loss.

    FSDT KLAX fps woes

I get great performance from every major add-on out there except this one. I know it was a FSX ported back into FS9, but I still can't figure out why it doesn't get good fps. Most places I'll get my 30 fps on 1/2 vsync but not here. I even re-sized everything to 512 textures and that made zero difference. Change NI settings and no difference. Weird thing is, on certain views it stays locked on 30 fps. Change it slightly and its a not so smooth 17-18 or so. Noticeable. Even with no AI its the same. Interestingly, I believe the developer made the scenery to use the GPU more. And I've noticed thats the reason for the low FPS. GPU is pegged. Maybe re-size to 256. WHo knows. Something causing high FPS...
