Time to continue my posts as to where I'm at in the race (finished of course).
Next leg was Naracoorte to Warrnambool.
Planned was 45 mins.Vrooom! Vrooooom!! Vroom Vroom!!!!!!
er...ok, Engine is off. That was just me saying it.
Taxing out, wondering WHO put grass on the taxiway...ok it was me.
Climbing out. Leaving the beautiful Naracoorte behind. Sad to leave this pretty little town.Kidding!!! We're still in SA....lets get out of here!!
Making good speed. The C210 is humming along nicely.
Descent, approach, land, taxi, park and relx.
42 (round up) . minus 3.- 1

Yeah I did notice that. I'll try it.
The one that comes with the add-on isn't exactly amazing. The autopilot is frustratingly frustrating. -

JSMR, I don't remember having any problems installing. I know you have purchased it so PM me and I may be able to help.
ScottishMike
Ah just got it. THe dummy folder didnt have the correct module or some other folder in it.
If you know how to operate the autopilot I'd love some help...it doesnt seem to want to work at all. Looks good though. -

The Daily Update
(Cue “She Sells Sanctuary”)
EP: “Hello and welcome to a very special Daily Update for the 21st of February. I’m Elias Pacheco for Radio Chachapoya…”
CU: “And I’m Claus Ullrich for Piper’s Performance Planes…”
Both: “And the 1976 Australian Air Race is over!”
EP: “JSMR, who had been in Renmark long enough to get a job, get a house, get married, start a family, and run for mayor – and as of the last poll was 16 points up on his opponent – has left all of that in pursuit of the perfect CV. He started with a +7 and a Centurion. He took a minute off of that to Naracoorte, and had the bit between his teeth. A -3 to Warrnambool, and another -3 to Moorabbin, and he was there.
“Just before heading out on this Oz odyssey, I talked with Tom PenDragon regarding the timing system. He said that one of the hardest parts of flying a plan-versus-actual race was the temptation to overcompensate or chase a timing – he likened it to pilot-induced oscillation when learning instrument approaches. JSMR may have encountered something similar. Having flown faster than plan during the previous three legs in order to get a 0 CV, he continued to do so, scoring a -2 to Mangalore. He corrected a little on the next couple of legs, scoring a -1 into Tocumwal and also into Narrandera. At this point, he had a -4 CV.
“So, JSMR slowed down. His next run, to Parkes, was a +1. He scored a +2 into Bathurst, leaving him with a -1 CV and one more leg to fly. His run to Bankstown: Another +2. He may have overshot perfect, but no matter – his final +1 CV was good enough for the Bronze.”
CThe final result of the 1976 Australian Air Race is: Melo in first, VP2 and the Bosss in second, JSMR in third, defaid fourth, Mike fifth, and Dirk sixth.
“And with this, we shall bring this edition of the Daily Update to a close with a hearty congratulations to all of the finishers of the 1976 Australian Air Race, especially those who are on the podium. There is plenty more racing to come before midnight on the 29th of February, and two more races, the Eastern and the Combined, to be decided.”
CU: “I’m Claus Ullrich for Piper’s Performance Planes…”
EP: “And I’m Elias Pacheco for Radio Chachapoya, signing off. Have a great flying day, everybody.”
Great job mate!! Quite the job to do all of that.
I still have some leg pics to show. Only fair I do that.- 1

IIRC you need to have a copy of FS9.exe in there and then they usually do home in on it.
Got that too!

If the installers do not make registry entries you might get them to install to a dummy FS9 folder then copy everything over.
I have a dummy folder but it still doesn't 'find' it.
-
Yeah I am. Still can’t find fa9. I guess because I I don’t have it in the x86 folder.
Seems most old installers are only coded to search that location unfortunately.
-
Well, not the place , but purchased both the FSD Aerostar and Piper Navajo and both say it cant be installed. LOL.
-
-
Omg I love that Aerostar. I found FSD's site and will break out the c/c.

Renmark to Naracoorte.
Planned 1:03Actual 1:01 V-1
Engines started and read to to leave Renmark. Sad to leave this beautiful, stunning little town.
Power down, clock started, and sad to be leaving. If only I could stay longer in Renmark.
Just kidding. Blasting out of this place as possible! Please keep running engine. I don't want to have to return!!
Cruise altitude. 7500ft. 75% power. Need to make up some time.
170 TAS. Pretty good for this height. Halfway .
De-sent (sic)time. And gear down to slow her up.
Series of pics to show the arrival onto rwy 20 I think it is. Dirt. A few crop dusters operate here I think. Trying to slow her down. Flaps out. Trying to get her on the ground under 1:03.
1:02 and a minute under. Also admiring my ADE handiwork.

Got some screens to upload. Forgot to upload my Parafied to Renmark.
V-3
45min planned42min actual.
A good run.
The big bore single ready for another leg.
Finally I remembered to start the timer.
Bye bye Adelaide. We will miss you.
Just kidding. Glad to leave. LOL
We're light. And blasting on out of here.
5500ft cruise altitude. 160-165 KTAS cruise is the goal.
Sweet looking bird.
Descenet started : I need to keep the speed up. But she's slippery to slow down.
Drop the gear early. Slower her down. Careful to reduce power TOO quick to avoid shock cooling the engine. I'm getting good at it.
42:26. Lets call it...42.

JSMR, The link just takes me to Retro United Airlines.
Yes it is the FSD Aerostar.
Yeah sorry, that link is in my signature thingy. Something separate. Still working on that one.
oh nice. Is that available somewhere?

Whoa...I've fallen behind. Crazy week.
Ok, here's my run plan coming up to Moorabbin.
All based on Skyvector and 160 KTAS planned.
YREN-YNRC : 1:03
YNRC-YWBL : 0:44
YWBL-YMMB : 0:50
I'll remember it if it's posted here lol. And see how many legs I can do today. Maybe I can squeeze in another leg or two after that.
Don't count me out just yet!!
-
I haven't forgotten the race. Busy week. Will fly some multiple legs to catch up. Or attempt to.
Bankstown or Bust! (said by no one in Australia )- 1

Yeah I was figuring it may take some effort. Thanks for looking at it though.
-
OK thanks guy's. I'll give it a whirl.

Ok, xcl doesn’t do anything. I guess I expected a bgl that contained the airfield, as ADE won’t open the two bgl’s in the scenery file.
Trees aside, I do have what’s in your image, Chris. But that big blurry light brown texture covers the whole of the airfield. No runways or taxi ways visible.
So I’m wondering how to edit it, when I can’t open it in ADE? -
Downloaded Naracoorte YNRC. Next leg and trying to avoid more ADE work as fun as that is.
The airport is all over the shop, as expected. MOst of the objects are showing. No runways etc, It has no BGL so it cant be opened. Onky an xcl file which I have no idea what that is.
Is there an easy solution to using Fs2002 files? -
I've tried Ground24K but that failed almost instantly. Is there any other program that is easy to use (I know I know, no such thing) to assist in adding some roads, towns, rivers etc where none or little exists in FS2004?
Or is photoscenery a a better option for certain areas? Not sure how to do that one either..
As usual, any help greatly appreciated. -

Also posting my Warrnambool to Moorabbin leg.
Planned..I think was 50 mins.
Now I WILL miss Warrnambool. NIce seaside town. The western end of the Great Ocean Road.
Begin the take-off. Timer started.
Yep she's a beautiful aircraft as we head toward Melbourne.
Northern end of Geelong and over Port Philip Bay. Melbourne in the distance.
Approach, land, taxi and park at Moorabbin airport.
V-3. A good run.
