Problem:FSX Addon sceneries not being found

Three things you should be clear about:

(1)

Installing the files:

Folder: - The folder the scenery files are in, usually in:

..\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\Addon Scenery

(2)

Adding the scenery:

=Adding it in the scenery library so FSX is aware of the new scenery.

-If the scenery is in it's own folder with subfolders, for example: ..\"SBCD new airport"

with subfolders:

..\SBCD new airport\scenery (contains the bgl files)

..\SBCD new airport\texture (contains texture files, not in every addon.)

Then you install folder ..\"SBCD new airport" in:

..\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\Addon Scenery\

The full path will become:

..\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\Addon Scenery\SBCD new airport

And, you must activate the new scenery in the Scenery library.

Then go fly.

-----

As you know,

..\Microsoft Flight Simulator X \Addon Scenery

also contains a folder \scenery and a folder \texture.

That is because folder \Addon scenery is set up the same way.

And, it is already activated in the Scenery Library in FSX, So FSX is already aware of it.

Because of this, you could also install a Addon scenery by placing the .bgl files in

..\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\Addon Scenery\Scenery

and putting the texture files from it in:

..\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\Addon Scenery\texture.

|||||

Then no adding to the scenery library is needed. Fsx already know about that folder, and next time FSX is started your scenery will be shown when you select that airport from the list.

You can go directly to the airport to take off. Select the airport just like you did before. You will see the new airport instead of the default one.

-----------------------

(3)

The third thing is the "File Library".

This is the file library here on FlightSim.com and has nothing to do with what is going on on your PC.

----

(4)

Then, just to be extra clear, there is a 4th "selection". The menu where you select the airport when setting up a flight.

There, in "Select Airport" are two check-boxes on the lower right.

One is: "Search Default Scenery"

The other is "Search Addon Scenery"

You will need to select the first one, "Search Default Scenery".

Yes, it is an Addon, But it now replaces the default.

-----

As advice, try to keep those different things clear when asking and explaining what you did.

Instead of: "when I loaded the scenery..."

say things like: "I started FSX, opened the scenery library, tried to add folder "xxxxxxx" but then...."

or, other example:

"I added folder xxxxx to folder Microsoft Flight Simulator x\Addon Scenery\ but there are no files inside folder xxx anymore now"

Be precise about what you do/did.

No worries about the language thing. In a way you could call it all "adding", not your fault.

Thank you very much ill88pp for the detailed mapping which is now a precious addition as a printed file to assist me in the current and in any future questions having to do with FSX sceneries.

I will be extra careful in trying to be precise when outlining actions taken in the process of procuring solutions.

English not being my native language and a birth certificate issued 90 years ago will be prevailing factors to be considered for needed communication improvement.

My appreciation for your thorough, sincere and amicably worded message of help.
