GNacino
Time to upgrade. My current machine is ten years old, I've been averaging 15 fps. I ordered the parts and waiting for them to come. Here are my specs: X EVGA GeForce GTX 970 SSC ACX 2.0+ 4GB GDDR5 256bit, DVI-I, DVI-D, HDMI, DP SLI Ready Graphics Card 04G-P4-3975-KR 339.99 Amazon X Overseer RX-1 Full Tower Case Newegg X SSD OCZ Storage Solutions Trion 100 Series 480GB SATA III 25 " SSD TRN100-25SAT3-480G Amazon X Hard Drive WD Black 2TB Performance Desktop Hard Drive: 3.5-inch, SATA 6 Gb/s, 7200 RPM, 64MB Cache WD2003FZEX Amazon X Power Thermaltake TOUGHPOWER 750W 80 PLUS GOLD Full Modular Power Supply PS-TPD-0750MPCGUS-1 Amazon X Cooling Corsair Hydro Series High Performance Liquid CPU Cooler H60 Amazon X Optical Drive LG WH16NS40 Super Multi Blue Internal SATA 16x Blu-ray Disc Rewriter Amazon X Ports Sabrent 74-In-1 3.5-Inch Internal Flash Media Card Reader/writer with USB Port (CR-USNT) Amazon X Networking Gigabyte Bluetooth 4.0/WiFi Expansion Card Components Other GC-WB867D-I Amazon X CPU Intel Core BX80646I74790K i7-4790K Processor (8M Cache, up to 4.40 GHz) Amazon X Memory Kingston HyperX Savage 32GB Kit (4x8GB) 1600MHz DDR3 Non-ECC CL9 DIMM XMP (HX316C9SRK4/32) Amazon X MOBO ASUS ROG MAXIMUS VII HERO LGA1150 DDR3 M.2 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 Intel Z97 ATX Motherboard Newegg X Sound Creative Sound Blaster Audigy FX PCIe 5.1 Sound Card with High Performance Headphone Amp Amazon SanDisk X300 2.5" 1TB SATA III Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) SD7SB7S-010T-1122 Newegg I'm going to run Win 7 Pro 64 bit. The smaller SSD will have the OS on it while the 1TB will have FSX on it. I have both PMDG ac as well as Flightbeam & Dreamteam airports.Plus I run I run RX Essential Plus for weather. I hope this will give me decent performance on FSX. GNacino
napamule2
Nice specs. This must of set you back at least $5,000 dollars. Sweet. But don't expect to run FSX with slider maxed. Even this rig won't give you 'steady' 40 fps even at 4.4 Ghz. Just saying. Three years ago I paid $1200 for my rig (i7 2600K 3.4 Ghz with turbo to 3.877 Ghz) and it gives me 30 fps with no stutters or lags. I am happy with that. I too could spend $6,000 on a rig, but what for? Video games? Maybe. FSX? NO!! Chuck B i7 2600K @ 3.4 Ghz (Turbo-Boost to 3.877 Ghz), Asus P8H67 Pro, Super Talent 8 Gb DDR3/1333 Dual Channel, XFX Radeon R7-360B 2Gb DDR5, Corsair 650 W PSU, Dell 23 in (2048x1152), Windows7 Pro 64 bit, MS Sidewinder Precision 2 Joy, Logitech K-360 wireless KB & Mouse, Targus PAUK10U USB Keypad for Throttle (F1 to F4)/Spoiler/Tailhook/Wing Fold/Pitch Trim/Parking Brake/Snap to 2D Panel/View Change. Installed on 250 Gb (D:). FS9 and FSX Acceleration (locked at 30 FPS).
Luke
$5K? I'd be shocked if those parts cost more than $1,600. Cheers! Luke
Rupert
$5K? I'd be shocked if those parts cost more than $1,600. Cheers! Luke Since I haven't built anything in the last several months, I'm not truly up to date on pricing. However, I'd think $1,000 to $1,500 at the most. The only thing that surprises me is the enormous GPU. I'm assuming a lot more than FSX in going on there. Because, that's probably three times as much GPU as FSX can use. Unless, of course the bet is the new Flight Simulator dream-ware (which may never show up) is a heavy GPU user. Being an old chopper guy I usually fly low and slow. il88pp
Not that I care but I see: not listed but mentioned "the larger 1tb" (ssd I assume?) quick guessed adding: ssd 480$, ssd 950$, possibly more, ocz aint cheap. cpu 500$ and all the trimmings. You won't get there for 1500. Enjoy the build! And the results.:):) il. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
il88pp
That came out wrong. I do care:), it's just that I don't care about the price. (not my money;) ) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
GNacino
This came out to a little over $1750. The 480 SSD was $158.99 and 1TB SSD was $319. Like I said, my current rig was ten years old! I had an Intel Quad Core @ 2.4 GHz and a GTX 650ti and I was getting on average 10fps. Landing at FS Dreamteams' KORD with PMDG's 777 at those frame rates is pitiful. I couldn't upgrade my rig ant further. 30 fps would suit me fine. FSX seems to run smooth at those rates. If I'd stay away from the addons, the old rig was fine for its day. GNacino
il88pp
Ah, I had not realised ssd prices had fallen that much. It looks like a fantastic build. Jealous! il. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
