SummerSimmer
Are there any add ons that do this? Sometimes I would like to fly VFR but with realistic interaction with ATC I'm sure Vatsim can do this but are there any software options such as add ins? mrzippy
If you file a VFR flight plan you can do Flight Following and ATC will notify you about leaving their airspace, etc. Still thinking about a new flightsim only computer!
MBKHOU
If you file a VFR flight plan you can do Flight Following and ATC will notify you about leaving their airspace, etc. I don't even think you actually have to file a plan. As far as I remember, the ATC menu will have the option to call for flight following even if you are just flying totally VFR with no plan or anything. I don't know what assistance they may offer though. It's usually just the usual set transponder code, and then they will pass you off to other controllers as you fly over the various air spaces. If you cancel flight following, then I think they tell you to squawk 1200, same as if you were canceling IFR. I've never actually filed a VFR flight plan in FSX. :| All mine are IFR. dspaulding
From what I remember the VFR plan enables you to have waypoints set up in the default GPS. You could ask for flight following without a flight plan. The only benefit is besides talking to tower all other facilities will call traffic advisories for you regardless of IFR or VFR traffic. Edit: Besides the GPS waypoints, it also enables you to be able to view and print a flight plan as well. That's about it.
