New PC Help

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone, I am looking to build a PC, primarily to play FSX.

I only have a budget of around $650 including Monitor and OS.

I am looking to build this rig:

i3-4160 @ 3.6 Ghz

ASUS H81M-K

Zotac GTX 750 Ti 2 GB

Case: Aerocool V2x Red

PSU: Aerocool VX-600 600W

RAM: 8 GB/1600 DDR3 Kingston

HDD: 1TB Seagate

Monitor: 22" 1920x1080 FHD Monitor

OS: Windows 8.1 SL 64Bit

Can anyone suggest anything better or if these specs are fine for fsx? I was considering maybe an Athlon x4 860k because it has a higher clock rate, and i heard that FSX is more CPU intensive. Also, it is cheaper.

I know the PSU is a bit sketchy, i might go with another one.

Hi.

Your "budjet" PC specs are fine...Not great but fine.

You may want to consider Winows 7 64 bit for your OP system.

The CPU will give you a good bang for the bucks.

Be sure to check newegg.com for priceing and find a name brand PSU

Look into reviews of the AMD processor before going that route. Just because it has a higher clock speed doesn't necessarily mean it is actually faster. When it comes to single core performance, Intel CPUs get more done per clock cycle, meaning they can be faster than a higher clocked AMD model.

No system today can run our addons well, not even the upcoming Skylake. Perhaps the Canonlake will. I have a 4790k and get down to 18 fps around KORD or aerofost's EGLL (and some other airports) no matter what airliner I fly (not using "extreme cities", FSX settings set to med). 18 fps may not be horrible, but stuttery and annoying.
