Problem with FSX Steam crashing when I press escape...Help?

Hi, I just got FSX Steam yesterday, and when I press "escape," it exits me, or crashes out of the game. There were no error messages. I tried to use the event viewer (and ran as administrator) and saw nothing about FSX. I downloaded "UIAutomationCore.dll" but that didn't help. I didn't download any addon or aircraft. Corrupt download?

Pressing "Escape" will exit you from your flight. Check for faulting modules.

 

Control Panel-> Administrative Tools-> Event Viewer, select Custom Views-> Administrative Events.

One of the listed events will be for your CTD. The "Faulting Module" should point to the problem area.

 

Tell us what the Faulting Module is! That will point us in the direction of the proper error, aiding in troubleshooting.

 

 

Below is just an example of what you will see!

 

General Tab:

If there is not one listed:

you will need to do as previously noted

 

 

No Faulting Module? ->

Remove all of the add-ons, and test the sim. If it works OK, then reinstall them one at a time and test.

Be sure to test each thoroughly before moving on to the next

1) In the simulation: ESC

2) Dialog: End Flight/Keep flying: Choose End Flight

3) Return to main menu options: ESC

4) Desktop

 

If you get the crash at (1) then you need to fix it.

If you get the crash at (2) then you need to fix it.

if you get the crash between (3) and (4) then ignore it. There is no harm and there may be nothing you can do anyway. FSX was not designed to run on OSes newer than Vista.

This is likely caused by a bad aircraft add-on. Try not flying any plane(s) you added and fly a default. If the crashes stop, then you fly an add-on to find which one.

But I haven't added anything yet. Like I said I just got the game recently and I haven't modified it in any way. Should I just uninstall and reinstall fsx?
