Problem with lights

Recommended Posts

I have just Installed FS2004 in a new SSD drive, I connected the three monitors to the new twin GTX970s, and now all of the lights, Nav, PAPI etc have this strange Halo around them. Can somebody tell me what is it due to?

Thanks

Have you got the light bloom on in the settings of your sim? I know in my experience that it has had this effect on my sim.

I don't believe FS9 has that setting, but I've been wrong before.

Look up Nick's Light Fix v2. I've found it a good cure for this problem. Additionally, check your Aircraft.cfg file and find out just which nav light effects it uses in the [Lights] section. Then check your FS9\Effects folder for a slightly different nav light, and try using that instead.

For example: If your plane has

[Lights]

light.0=3, -25.5, 5.2, 11.0, fx_navwhih

Try checking your Effects folder for other "fx_navwhiXXX.FX" where XXX is another letter, say M or d, or it has "fx_navwhi_XXX.FX", or whatever, and replace the lights with that. Same for the Beacon lights.

Remember to back up any file BEFORE you edit it!!!

Had a thought...then there was the smell of something burning, and sparks, and then a big fire, and then the lights went out! I guess I better not do that again!
