Plane falling out of sky

Recommended Posts

Hi. I purchased MSFS a week ago and I have yet to fly an aircraft.

Only minutes after take off, the plane stops flying and dives head first toward the earth. I can not recover because the joystick and throttle are ineffective.

It ends up on it’s back with the engine still running.

The aileron trim is centered and the fuel tanks have plenty of fuel.

Weather is not an issue.

I checked all the aircraft's instruments and controls and nothing is out of line.

There is no CTD. I can operate both Windows and the MSFS app.

My system exceeds the recommended system requirements.

I am using the Thrustmaster TWCS throttle and the VKB Gladiator NXT Evo joystick.

I am at a loss as to how to fix this. I have searched on line but could not find any one else with the same problem.

Any one have a solution?

BTW, it happens with all aircraft I have tried.

Thanks.

I know you said you checked the controls, but this sort of thing sounds like you have a conflict with the flight controls, i.e. having two things set to control the elevators. The control setup is kind of complex because there are so many things to set. Do you have settings specifically for the throttle and joystick you are using?

Can you observe the plane itself when this happens? From an external view you should be able to see the flight control surfaces and see if the plane is being flown under control (though not yours) towards the ground. On some planes you would be able to see the same thing from the cockpit if the yoke or stick are animated

Thank you so much Nels for your insight. I checked all three devices and you are right. The mouse and throttle each had settings similar to the ones I have in the joystick.

I went through quickly and deleted the duplicates and made a short flight. The problem did not recur.

I will spend more time tomorrow on this issue, but I believe you have hit on the solution.

Too bad MSFS does not have a way to identify duplicate settings between devices or does it?

Again, thank you.

I don't think there's a way to automatically find duplicate settings. But I'd suggest spending some time learning all the setup section can do. The "search" function can be pretty handy for example. I'm still not an expert on it myself. There are a lot of available settings...

It does take a while to get your control devices set up properly, and the more you have the more trial and error it will take until you find your ideal setup.
