Microsoft Store opens instead of MSFS 2020

Recommended Posts

This is a new one for me, 2 years of almost no issues with MSFS 2020 Premium Deluxe and last night, when clicking on the MSFS Icon, it opens the Store instead. My app is in the store, I have reset the store and still, even with store updates, all I can do when clicking on MSFS is open the store.

Has anyone else run into this issue in the Forum? I have seen some posted solutions for others on the net but none have worked and I would hate to have to reset my PC.

Any help would be very appreciated.

Steve

If your MSFS icon is on your desktop, it has somehow become corrupted. Have you tried launching the sim from the Start menu instead? If it does launch, an MSFS icon will appear on the Taskbar which you can right-click on and select "Pin to taskbar" for future use, that's how I launch MSFS every time.

Have you logged out of the Store, rebooted, relog into the Store to see what happens?

No luck, still opens the store. Anyone know where the executable for MSFS 2020 actually is and what it's called? I have checked the Windows App folder and there are tons of folders with all the letters such as the Community Folder is labeled but I don't see an exe file.

Solved - mostly, had to download Windows 11 over Windows 10 and that fixed it and allowed me to install however, although all my configurations were also loaded and installed, I can't send a flight plan to the GPS, Garman or a third party and, pressing GPS if I put a plan in manually has no effect. it's like the Nav key is dead. Heading works but Nav is dead
