lnuss Posted February 22, 2022 Share Posted February 22, 2022 Three feet above the surface isn't flying-- too many obstacles unless you're over the water (and even a 3 foot wave is trouble) or the Bonneville Salt Flats, for example. In principle it's much like the Russian ground effect "flying boat" called ekranoplans, though they used normal jet engines. So it's a ground effect machine, IF it truly works. As far as I can tell, the hydrofoils 3 feet below the body are staying in the water providing lower resistance by lifting the body 3 feet out of the water.
