The good old reliable Ford: Delivered some cargo to Catalina Airport and loaded some goods for the mainland (L.A.). A short hop, but I liked the views.

Great shots!

I love the sound of the old Ford tri-motor! There was one at LOU for several years. Whenever it was started or flown, it always caused a stir! More than one highway fender bender was blamed on the distraction caused by the unusual sound it made.

BTW: Their first landing at AVX can really freak out a lot of even multi-hour pilots! Because they had never landed on an "Island in the sky" which at 1,602' above the water AVX certainly appears to be.
