solomod
For first time ever in over 25 years of sim flying my engines have burst into flames. Landing at Edinburgh - RWY 6, Project OpenSky Boeing 737-800 RyanAir - I made a nice touchdown, RCB Groundhandling dealing with flaps and speed brakes, start braking and apply reverse thrust. The windscreen fills with clouds of red spots and puffs of what looks like white cloud. I switch view to Spot Plane and see that the intakes of both engines are covered in white smoke and red sparks are all round them. Leave the runway and taxi to a gate where I cut off the engine fuel. Engines still on fire. Sorry but I didn't make a screen grab for a pic of the event. My realism setting is 50%, ignore crash and damage is selected and random instrument failure is off. So where did the very pretty engine fires come from? Has anybody any ideas? David
JSkorna
Tailstrike. Happens a lot with those POSKY planes. http://www.air-source.us/images/sigs/000219_195_jimskorna.png

solomod
Opened the flight from my autosave file and it did it again - have a screen grab this time. Just touched down reverse thrust on. David
mrzippy
I would do a replay of the landing the next time you see that watching it from an external view! Still thinking about a new flightsim only computer!
Dwaffler
May have been a good landing, but the contact points for the engines might be off enough that when the plane touched down, it triggered the contact points, thus the fires on the engines. Used to see that sometimes when I flew on FS9 with the Posky planes too.
solomod
I think you are spot-on with the Posky plane - I made the same landing with my trusty Project Airbus 319 and no problems at all. Many thanks to all who responded and a Happy Christmas to everybody. David
