Scenery - Las Vegas......

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I am completely new to FS and starting the (long) road to learning and understanding.

I have many, many questions but I will do my best to learn and work out what I can before asking all sorts of basic / silly questions.

However, I am a little puzzled by the scenery as there seems to be an abundance of trees and plants all over place (although I haven't actually flown that much to be honest) I tried flying up / down the Las Vegas strip for example and some of the casinos / hotels look to be completely overgrown by trees. Mandalay Bay for example is well overgrown and looks dilapidated and New York New York is so over grown it looks like its been derelict since the 60s - literally. I notice lots of trees example around the roads on the strip too that aren't there....

Is this something to do with my settings / internet connectivity / pc specification etc. and is there anything I can do to improve this?

I am running with everything at high and trying a few things at ULTRA - I have left the two sliders at "100" (can't remember what they are off the top of my head) and I am making small / slight changes in case I mess things up.

The sim appears to be running well with virtually no lag at all other than the very occasional glitch while I am experimenting.

My System is running

Nvidia 2080 Super

32gb Ram

i7 4770k cpu

Would really welcome any ideas how to sort these damn trees and bushes!

Many Thanks

Jonathan

Every YouTube video I've seen of the strip has the tree problem, so it's not just you. I've seen other instances of bizarre giant trees growing out of buildings in other places, including the ships in San Diego Bay. Hopefully they address this, along with the failure of the AI to render palm trees (they are all just strange-looking columns of rock in the sim).

Most alarming is at night, in this video @ 4:55

Looks like downtown LA instead of the neon lights of the city

The interesting thing about this video is that, while I see your point about the night lighting, overall the city looks fantastic! It seems that we have a whole new standard in which a great video can be used to illustrate flaws. Who knew?

A good base to work with! Possibly everybody at Asobo have never seen Las Vegas in person.

No doubt some developer will come along and replace the trees (Mostly Palm trees down the Strip) and add some Neon lights to the casinos. As well as Downtown and surrounding areas

Yep, the big trees are everywhere and need to be fixed! Well on the topic of Vegas, I am sure looking forward to FlyTampa's KLAS in the future!

there is a fix for the big trees, but it needs manual config editing.

not everyone feels comfy with that.

Las Vegas also know for huge 4th of July and New Years fireworks shows. Wonder if Asobo got that right.

That's possible, they decided to model the current world situation. Will have to check out Reno or Laughlin, NV and see if the lights are out there also. Wonder if the airport workers are wearing masks?

Ah, I didn't realise there was a fix for the trees, where can I find the details? And should I make the tweaks or wait for a fix? I wouldn't want the tweak to affect the fix later....

Search the MSFS forums at Avsim!
