fraroc
When I do long flights, I always increase sim speed to make time go faster and because of the Autopilot oscillation glitch, I usually turn off Autopilot to go more than 4X speed....Now it used to work perfectly, but at some point, I don't know exactly WHEN it was, but whenever I hit the options tab....It would freeze, and then either stay frozen or close automatically. This is what the log of the latest crash says. tiger1962
Looks like a classic Out Of Memory crash. Re-set all your Display settings to default, including FPS to 20. Try the flight again and if there's no crash, increase the settings one at a time and test again until you find the culprit, then back everything off one step. This will now be the Optimum Setting for your system. Tim Wright "The older I get, the better I was..." mrzippy
Time to look for a "Faulting Module"! Control Panel-> Administrative Tools-> Event Viewer, select Custom Views-> Administrative Events. One of the listed events will be for your CTD. The "Faulting Module" should point to the problem area. Tell us what the Faulting Module is! That will point us in the direction of the proper error, aiding in troubleshooting. BELOW IS A SAMPLE OF WHAT YOU MIGHT SEE! fraroc
I've been looking throughout the Event Viewer for other FSX crashes at it seems like another offending component other than the groundhandling gague is the ai.player.DLL file. Would a clean uninstall and reinstall of FSX help?
mrzippy
More likely an added scenery that included ai traffic/files. Still thinking about a new flightsim only computer!
fraroc
I'm honestly ready to take a hammer to my computer. I disabled custom scenery, it seemed to work. I was able to manipluate the Sim time during my JFK to ORD test flight, but when I tried to turn on the Visual flight path during my descent so I can see the glideslope, it didn't CTD but THE THING DID ANOTHER APPHANG. EVENT VIEWER AND APPCRASHVIEW ISNT GIVING ME ANY OTHER INFORMATION THAT I CAN DECIPHER OTHER THAN "APPHANGB1" AT LEAST WITH THE CTD'S IT GAVE ME A REASON! I'm removing all my custom scenery, all the custom traffic files I made, and if this doesn't work I'm going full nuclear and completely uninstalling FSX. Sorry for yelling, this is just really frustrating. Edited March 3, 2020 by drobson

jorgen.s.andersen
FSUIPC could be the culprit, but I seriously doubt it. It might be worth uninstalling it and then see what happens. I believe that the culprit more likely is some AI traffic, or AI airplane. If you uninstall FSUIPC and then get an error involving ai_player.dll, then it IS an AI problem. What kinds of AI traffic do you have installed, where do you have your AI airplanes and your AI traffic files stored? Jorgen PS: Very personal opinion, but I hate it when people call a flight simulator a "game".... sorry, again personal peeve.
fraroc
The only AI add on that I have is My Traffic 6, and this crashing issue has been going on before then. The reason why I installed it was because I erroneously believed that the crashing issue resolved itself when I limited the FPS and cleaned out all my AFCAD files and custom scenery. jorgen.s.andersen
And where did My Traffic 6 install to? Jorgen
jorgen.s.andersen
That was a hurried reply, but still important. I also see that you have this installed under C:\Program Files (x86), where, especially under Windows 10, UAC (User Account Control) likes to get its ugly fingers into everything. Try to run FSX as an Administrator is one thing I would recommend. Some people don't like to disable UAC, but I have done that using a freeware program called TweakUAC, and have never had any issues because of that.
