nadlzfw
I'm using FSrealWX lite and for about a week now have had a problem... The weather application loads the local weather and then times out trying to load upper air wind data. It does not transfer the weather downloaded to fs9, so the weather in the sim appears blank. I developed a work-around; by unchecking the 'upperair' option, it works normally except there is no upper air data (duh!). Otherwise all is well. I use the VATSIM server exclusively...NOAA has never worked for me. I presume it is an issue with VATSIM. Has anyone experienced the same thing or know of a solution? Thanks! tiger1962
All I can suggest is that you check that your VATSIM server address has the word "ALL" at the end, as follows: http://metar.vatsim.net/metar.php?id=ALL It's possible to select just one or a group of weather stations by their ICAO ID, but if you use "ALL" it'll scan the whole lot for you. nadlzfw
Thanks, Tiger, but how do I do that? FSrealWX does not have any option to specify a server address; the only choice is VATSIM or NOAA. Nadlzfw

tiger1962
I only have FSrealWXlite now, having changed to FSGRW last year, and I expected to find a server address in the FSrealWX.ini file (which is in the FSrealWX folder wherever you installed it), but there isn't one and so to Plan B: In the FSrealWX Options there's a "DWC and Interface" tab, if you select "enable Direct Wind Control" and in the Interface drop-down menu, "FSUIPC" only, you should get the upper wind data - however, that doesn't seem to be working for me either so it looks like FSrealWX users will have to fork out for the new version 3 or find an alternative freeware weather program. I would recommend FSMetar version 1.5.4, which can be downloaded from The Wayback Machine here: http://web.archive.org/web/20120323061633/http://personal.telefonica.terra.es/web/fsmetar/ Edited December 26, 2019 by tiger1962 Tim Wright "The older I get, the better I was..." nadlzfw
Holiday Miracle!!! It seems that the problem is fixed; upper air data is now available. Assuming that the issue was with VATSIM (because I can't imagine what else it might be), hooray to VATSIM for taking care of things. tgibson_new
Not sure about it being VATSIM; NOAA is now working again for me as well. :) Tom Gibson CalClassic Propliner Page: http://www.calclassic.com
