Looking to buy P3D

I am looking to buy p3d after a long break from FSX. It seems after some research that P3D is really ready to go out of the box with minor tweaking compared to FSX.

 

I am looking for some advice on add ons that i either have or will purchase for p3d:

 

Flightsim Commander - Is this still one of the better products to use or is there something better for P3D

FTX Vector/ Global

Active Sky

Rex

PMDG - When it releases

Aerosoft Airbus Extended X

 

Are there any other great add ons for P3D?

 

Also here are my computer Specs:

 

CPU - i5-3570k 3.40GHz

Memory - 8Gb

GPU - AMD Radeon HD 7970

1TB SSD

 

Will that system run prepar3d pretty good? Thanks for the help in advance

Each has their favorites but I'd look at the freeware/donationware PlanG as a great replacement for Flightsim Commander. Other items listed other than PMDG currently have P3D versions.

 

If you can get the 3570k above 4ghz you'd be much better off.

 

P3D makes much more use of the GPU than FSX - I have not used AMD cards so I can't comment on the 7970 but you really need a strong card with 4G memory for ideal results.

 

I would also say though, that if your settings were reasonable, you could get a very good experience from P3D.

Hold off on purchase for now.

 

P3Dv2.5 is imminent and is a full install, not a patch. It will likely break the installers for a number of the addons you refer to which will require the developer to modify, so they may not work for a wee while.
