rean001
Hey guys, so I bought a new laptop yesterday and immediately installed FSX on steam, but I can't get my old Xbox 360 type controller to work with it. I've tried updating drivers for it and resetting defaults for the controller which shows up on FSX and shows as being connected to my laptop, but it hasn't worked at all. Is there any way to enable the controller to work?
lmhariano
Have you set axis and button assignments and sensitivities to this controller in FSX? I never liked the default FSX assignments. Best regards, Luis Hernández
il88pp
No. Buy a simple cheap joystick to use with fsx. For example the logitech 3D. Edited June 24, 2019 by il88pp [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
rean001
Are you sure about that? I've used this controller on another laptop with FSX and it worked fine

lesh
Is there any way to enable the controller to work? Try starting Steam and change these settings. Make sure FSX is closed. In the top left of the Steam panel, go to Steam->Settings->Controller->General Controller Settings. Make a note of the current settings for future reference then deselect everything and close out. Restart FSX and see if your controller is detected.
rean001
I've tried changing settings on steam and identifying the controller and so on but it doesn't work, the controller won't even be identified, it just shows up as unregistered
rean001
It's a wired controller and yep it shows up but it doesn't make a difference in the game except I can move the joystick on the controller within the cockpit and certain views etc

lesh
Given the situation as mentioned above, is there any other way to solve this issue? You need to go through ALL of the controller/axis assignments, including the keyboard and mouse, and make sure that only one thing is assigned to each control and delete/unassign all of the others. rean001
I bought a joystick in the meantime as recommended earlier on in the post, which has worked well but I will follow the advice above in order to possibly use the controller again in the future. I'm grateful for everyone who replied, thank you to you guys!
