sapphire
I have added an Autopilot to an non AP aircraft and can access it by the Views Instrument Panel pulldown menu. However I would like to access it by an AP icon on the actual panel Could someone please show me how to add the necessary line in the panel.cfg that will show the AP Icon on my panel? This is the Autopilot I am using [Window03] Background_color=16,16,16 size_mm=360,80 position=6 visible=0 ident=AP_Panel gauge00=737-400.Autopilot,5,5,350,70 I want the line to go next in sequence here gauge00=Extra-300!Low-Voltage-Light, 312,486,26 gauge01=Extra-300!GPS Display Toggle, 411,727,15 gauge02=Extra-300!Interior-Light-Switch, 546,697,18 gauge03=Extra-300!Strobe-Light-Switch, 507,697,18 gauge04=Mooney_Bravo!Fuel Pressure, 547,621,50,47 gauge05=Mooney_Bravo!Oil Pressure, 466,622,56,46 gauge06=Mooney_Bravo!Manifold Pressure, 700,500,59,56 gauge07=Mooney_Bravo!Master Alt Bat, 268,542,22,30 gauge08=spitfire_mki!Altimeter, 583,533,82,87 gauge09=CESSNA182IFR!Tachometer, 489,535,85,76 gauge10=CESSNA!Nav GPS Switch, 363,705,21,23 gauge11=CESSNA182IFR!Whiskey_Compass, 501,1,45,23 gauge12=BF109e!Magneto, 328,613,39,95 gauge13=P47d!Turn_Indicator, 483,446,88,83 gauge14=p51d!Starter, 320,586,45,23 gauge15=Hurricane_1!Fuel_Warning, 404,695,22,27 gauge16=Fi_156_toggle.30, 774,554,26,72 gauge17=Fi_156_stick, 453,715,160 gauge18=Fi_156.carbheat, 279,715,45 gauge19=Fi_156.amp, 307,521,51,48 gauge20=Fi_156_cont, 143,664,136,168 gauge21=Fi_156_Plack_41, 388,629,68,11 gauge22=Fi_156_Plack_42, 393,644,68,11 gauge23=Bvr_CHT, 695,622,54,50 gauge24=dfd_nbvsi2k!vsi, 585,447,82,81 gauge25=vso10.vyskomer, 399,538,80,74 gauge26=vso10.speed, 392, 451 ,83,78 gauge27=3m1Oil, 696,563,59,55 gauge28=as350_volts, 269,591,37,36 gauge29=MS.Oil_Warn, 468,694,26,40 gauge30=MS.Volts_Warn, 292,641,27,42 gauge31=simicons!GPS Icon, 860,606,27,27 gauge32=simicons!ATC Icon, 833,606,27,27 gauge33=simicons!Map Icon, 887,606,27,27 gauge34=simicons!Avionics Icon, 914,606,27,27 gauge35=XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX (new line here) With thanks
mrzippy
Where would you be borrowing the AP ICON from? Can you show a screenshot of the panel? I could possibly give coordinates that would be close with just some fine tuning. Is there room next to the Avionics ICON for the AP ICON? If so, then the gauge35 line would look similar to this: gauge35=simicons!AP Icon, 941,606,27,27 This would place the AP Icon to the right of the Avionics Icon. What aircraft are you adding this Icon to? Still thinking about a new flightsim only computer!

mrzippy
Hello Thanks for the reply I am building a Fieseler Storch single seater - using a Morane 500 as the acft body but adding a Storch panel and sounds OK, actually after seeing the panel and the Icons positions I would do this: gauge35=simicons!AP Icon, 806,606,27,27 This would give you AP, ATC, Map, and Avionics Icons in that order. sapphire
OK, actually after seeing the panel and the Icons positions I would do this: gauge35=simicons!AP Icon, 806,606,27,27 This would give you AP, ATC, Map, and Avionics Icons in that order. thank you I did that and nothing shows up Would I need something like a simicons gauge? with thanks
mrzippy
thank you I did that and nothing shows up Would I need something like a simicons gauge? with thanks Well, that's what I was originally asking in my first post. Where are you getting the AP ICON from? I would think it would need to be borrowed from another aircraft. I don't think the simicons gauge has one for AP. I have an aircraft or 2 (3rd party addons) that the developer created the AP icon for. I think they were for either FSX or FS2004. Still thinking about a new flightsim only computer! okbob
Just make sure that Simicons is in your gauge folder. It should be part of FS9 already.
mrzippy
I have a JBK Douglas DC-6 in my Airplanes folder. It has an AP Icon on the panel. In the panel.cfg it is also a popup and I am using the same AP you are using. You have to be mindful of the ident= and how it was worded in the original panel.cfg. [Window04] Background_color=16,16,16 size_mm=360,80 position=6 visible=0 ident=OVERHEAD_PANEL gauge00=737-400!Autopilot,5,5,350,70 If I wanted to use this AP Icon in another aircraft, I would have to include the appropriate .cab file along with the correct wording in the gauge.xx= line. tiger1962
Finding the correct Ident= for the AP Icon could be a bit of a minefield! I recommend the DH89a Dragon Rapide Autopilot by Jim Robinson, which looks the part for all classic/vintage aircraft of the 30's and 40's era but has default FS9 autopilot functionality and comes with it's own AP Icon: FS2004 (ACOF) - FS2004 Panels FS2004 Dh89a Dragon Rapide Autopilot Add-On [ Download | View ] Name: dh89a_ap.zip Size: 836,203 Date: 06-27-2005 Downloads: 1,741 FS2004 Dh89a Dragon Rapide Autopilot Add-On. This file is for use with the DeHavilland DH89A Dragon Rapide model (FS9_DH89.ZIP). It adds a fully functional autopilot, NAV1 radio and VOR/glideslope head to the 2D panel. Additionally, a new "gauge" has been installed that toggles the windshield center frame from view, greatly improving visibility on final approach. By Jim Robinson. mrzippy
Good find, Tim! Sure haven't heard from Jim Robinson in a long time. Not here or over at AVSIM. Hope he is OK!:) Still thinking about a new flightsim only computer!
tiger1962
Thanks Charlie, I think Jim's OK - I think he's taken up a new hobby now. I use his Dh89a Autopilot in all my classic/vintage planes (it also works in FSX!) it just looks right and works perfectly - it's my definition of a Work of Art. GKKnupper
@sapphire My AP Icon works as follows: 1. Icon on Instrument panel is color white Autopilot is NOT shown on Panel (location, user decides when shown) 2. IF you Click the Icon than Autopilot is shown at location specified by user and the AP-Icon color on Instrument panel changes to YELLOW 3. Now you can set up data on autopilot and THAN CLICK Autopilot ON button This triggers usually a green light on the Autopilot Panel It ALSO changes the AP-ICON on the Instrument panel from Yellow to Green. 4. Clicking again on the AP-Icon on the Instrument panel the Autopilot will disappera. The Autopilot is ON and Activ but NOT shown. The AP-Icon shows GREEN and you know your Autopliot is Activ. 5. To see the Autopilot again JUST Click on the Gree AP-Icon on the panel. 6. you can switch for and back indefinitely UNTIL you CLICK on the Autopilot the On Button to OFF. 7. The Autopilot is still shown and the AP-Icon button on the panel changes from GREE to Yellow. To make the Autopilot disappear totally JUST Click on the AP-Icon on the Instrument panel and the Autopilot panel disappears and the AP-Icon returns to the White light status. IF you are interested to try it drop me a email : gkcherry1@t-online.de Sincerely G. Kirsschstein
