how do i lower texture scale of pmdg aircraft?

Recommended Posts

Get DXTbmp, load the textures to find out what they are, then you can re-save them at lower resolutions.

I don't know what result you're trying to achieve, but IMO the gain (if any) will be marginal.

I don't own any PMDG aircraft, but I suspect their (heavy) load on any system comes from systems and gauge processing, not visuals.

You can't edit FSX DDS- or BMP-files directly with PS btw.

[EDIT]Dogdish already made that clear, I see.

DXTBMP SAVE OPTIONS.jpg

What resolution are they to begin with?

32bit DDS? If so could save as DXT5 DDS

Or are they

32bit BMP? If so could save as DXT3 BMP

I was having a OOM with a QW787-9 livery that somebody saved as 4096 x 4096 DXT5. So I used paint.net and resized them to 2048 x 2048. Still looks good.

Fixed the OOM.
