Sentry_FiveZero
I am only able to display a maximum of a 99 knot wind on the panel when I know winds are higher. I have AS16 and have max wind speeds on the ground set to 200. I've been able to display winds above 99 before and I can't remember what I did to do that. andyjohnston
Probably means in the red text at the top. Spent way too much time using these sims... FS 5.1, FS-98, FS-2000, FS-2002, FS-2004, FSX, Flight, FSW, P3Dv3, P3Dv4, MSFS
mrzippy
Probably means in the red text at the top. Shift+Z? TextInfo.3 Windspeedand Direction will only display 2 digits. Most MFDs in the larger aircraft will display over 100 knots for the wind. That's why I asked "What panel"? Still thinking about a new flightsim only computer! Sentry_FiveZero
I did something in the past to fix this but I've slept a few times since then. I've had to reinstall FSX so that's why it's changed. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro USAF E-3 Crew Chief 1981-2001 FS2004 Century of Flight, FSX, flying since version 1.0! f16jockey_2
You probably edited the XML, changed some %2d to %3d (changed the number of digits). Which MFD ? Wim
mrzippy
You probably edited the XML, changed some %2d to %3d (changed the number of digits). Which MFD ? Wim Interesting, Wim! I was just looking at the XML for my POSKY 737-800 MFD and the windspeed line shows: /%((A:Ambient Wind Velocity, knots) s0 0 >)%{if}%(l0)%!3d!%{else}---%{end} Does this mean it might show a 3 digit windspeed? f16jockey_2
Does this mean it might show a 3 digit windspeed? It does : So we just need to know what MFD the OP is using. Can also be he remembers the three digit display from flying the default 737 or 747 ? Wim
Sentry_FiveZero
This is the PMDG 737ngx. I also have the 747 and 777 which also disparaged 3 digits. Sentry_FiveZero
It may be a setting somewhere else. Im cruising at fl370 across the top of Irma and the difference between my GS and TAS is about the same as the winds. So somewhere, FSX is only allowed to have a 99 knot max winds aloft speed. Sentry_FiveZero
Even though the red line at the top would only ever display a max of 99, I could get an accurate wind speed displayed on my MFD. I'll ask around some more. Maybe get answers on the PMDG forum. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk USAF E-3 Crew Chief 1981-2001 FS2004 Century of Flight, FSX, flying since version 1.0! f16jockey_2
So somewhere, FSX is only allowed to have a 99 knot max winds aloft speed. IMO my prev pic of the default 737 MFD contradicts that. Wim

f16jockey_2
So what values would I need to change in that string? I don't own this payware product, but the more I think about it, the less I believe that the PMDG MFD gauge would be an XML gauge. Most likely C#. So over to PMDG support, I'm sure they'll appreciate your one-line Tapatalk approach. Wim
Sentry_FiveZero
It looks like the only links I have to the guages are dll files, I.e., PMDG_737NGX.dll. Not looking good there. f16jockey_2
Quite what I expected. The display looks too complidated to be an XML gauge (weather radar, interaction with FMC, etc). On a side note: knowing PMDG's reputation, maybe that's how a real Boeing MFD displays things? Maybe an expert can chime in here. Wim
