paulrunge
Just finished FSX rebuild to new dedicated HDD with all the bells and whistles (GTX, RTMM, Tongas etc) and was working well until I thought to try and fix a mouse pointer issue by running FSX's Repair - Now I have that dang "A Fatal Error Occurred." error. Tried most of the suggestions (DLL *.cfg, fixes, yoga, ...) but no dice. I am running Win10 Pro 64, and all nVidia and other drivers are up-to-date. Is there anyone out there who can help me get this fixed? If not, can I successfully re-install FSX without having to install all those aircraft, Orbx, RTMM, Tongas etc add-ons again? I sure hope so! Fingers crossed and candles lit... Thanks guys. mrzippy
Before doing a Repair you are suppose to uninstall Acceleration and/or SP2/SP1. Check your Events log to see what faulting module you are getting. I suspect a Simprop.DLL error. No way around a full uninstall/reinstall. Still thinking about a new flightsim only computer! napamule2
Not only un-install 1 and 2 first (with reboot PC to take care of Registry entries). Then un-install FSX. Then get rid of any traces of past FSX install (folders) that are in C drive. Reboot PC again after you get rid of all traces of FSX on C drive. Then do not install to default path (ie: D:\Program Files (86)\MS Flight Simulator\FSX). Install directly to main D drive (ie: D:\FSX). Windows 7 permissions will prevent you from modifying any files in default path folder (D:\Program Files (86)..). I think that might be your 'real' problem. Might be easier to format the 'dedicated' drive and re-install FSX AND all your add-ons. paulrunge
How in the world would anyone know you have to remove SP1+SP2 before running FSX Repair utility??????????? Okay, I'm over it. Thanks for the input gents. I will carefully and fully remove all of FSX from the dedicated HDD (including remnants) and start fresh. I will be getting pretty good at rebuilds!!?? il88pp
Also, read the "Sticky" (at top of forum) on posting help requests. For these crashes you need the "faulting module" info. See sticky on how to find that. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
