Aerofly2 - San Francisco

Recommended Posts

Right now i'm likin' the heck out of Aerofly2, I think this is going to be the way to go, for me anyway. With Orbx in the mix now, what more could you ask for.

WOW!!!:cool::cool: What do you mean by "with Orbx in the mix"?

He's referring to "Project A", a close collaboration between ORBX and IPACX bringing the visuel engine of Aerofly FS2 toghether with "the high detail and immersion" (their words) from ORBX HD airports.

Either that, or he is describing the ingredients of a Dutch cheesecake

BTW, your (Adam's) pics are very beautiful (as always), but you do realize that strictly speaking they don't belong in the MS FS screenshot forum. ;)

In the spirit of Fraternity, I would ask Nels to provide one screenshot forum for all flight sims.

Adam, truly amazing, going below the Golden Gate too... I am torn between this (Aerofly) and FSW, which one to go for?

Very cool shots! Aerofly2 is got to be the most beautiful of all sims, just need world coverage. I'm sure in time Orbx will to the job.

For me right now it's P3Dv.4. My favorite aircraft are now compliant (A2A, Milviz). Aerosoft PBY is also updated. Orbx and other scenery developers are jumping on the bandwagon.

frooglesims did a excellent video on P3Dv.4

Very nice set Adam. Aerofly2 has intrigued me, 64bit, Orbx, so on. It's just that all the pictures I saw so far were way to bright and white for my taste regarding the ground textures (photoreal). That is the one thing that bothers me about P3D as well. I am not tech saavy, but why is it that photoreal looks so much more crisp in FSX than P3D or Aerofly2?

Anyway, great post, and I will keep an eye on that sim.

Adam, the shots are amazingly stunning as scenery is concern, just tell me, what about all your quality add-on like Carenado airplanes or scenery and airports in FSX, are you dumping them? Can you use EZdock camera, Zaitek or CH controls? just curious.

Jan, Klee, RatRace, Michael, Khalid, Ted, Bernardo, Gonzalo, thank you gents. :)

Jan - Orbx has two HD airports released for Aerofly2 already.

Michael - they just had a sale at Steam. :D

Ted - I never saw anything like it, or even close. It's hard for me to go back to FSX anymore.

Khalid - Aerofly2, no contest.

Bernardo - If you ever say any pictures of SF, it is pretty much white. There are trees and mesh, it's not just flat like other photo scenery.

Gonzalo - I'm going to use FSX once in a while. :D Here are some features.

  • Highly detailed and interactive 3D cockpits
  • Adjustable cockpit lighting at night time
  • Realistic flight physics
  • Interactive Flight school for learning the basics of flying
  • High resolution aerial images and over 150 airports for the South West of the United States
  • World wide elevation and aerial images
  • Display terrain features like mountains, lakes and cities for easy VFR navigation
  • Route editor for easy flight planning
  • Adjustable time of day
  • Adjustable wind, clouds, visibility, thermal activity and turbulence
  • Replay system
  • Different view modes
  • Support for multiple joysticks, throttle units, rudder pedals and more
  • TrackIR support
  • Full Oculus Rift VR support
  • HTC Vive VR support
  • Support for Saitek Multi Panel, Radio Panel, Switch Panel and Saitek TPM

This an early access FS, so there is going to be a lot more as time go's on.

I agree with you Adam. It's stunning! If the team was developing for it I'd be there, but they switched to P3D. The C-47 is still in beta. Hopefully something of that type of aircraft and/or A2A is available in the future once it's out of early access. The flight sim future is very bright!!!

Aerofly 2 is hands down the best flight sim in VR. It has native support which works flawlessly, doesn't need additional software like FlyInside and is silky smooth (at least on my GTX 1070 and Oculus Rift). Having said that, I'm also enjoying FSX in VR with FlyInside, but XP11 is a slide show and P3D4 is not supported by FlyInside (yet).

The downside of Aerofly 2 is that there is no ATC or other air traffic and it only covers a few small parts of the world in detail. I only have 2 areas installed and that already takes up 100GB of hard disk space. To cover the whole globe will probably require 10TB, because it is essentially high resolution MegaSecenery Earth type files + some autogen. So, no I wouldn't want it to cover the whole earth all at once, but probably more areas from which I can select.

I think that brightness is caused by an HDR graphics setting, which also makes it slightly fuzzy. Some people like it, I don't and generally disable it and then the graphics look as crisp and clear (bland?) as FSX. Frames rates also improve with HDR off

I don't bother with ORBX in Aerofly 2, because I fly in VR and the resolution is too low to enjoy ORBX level of detail.

Ted, i'm sure someone will make aircraft for Aerofly in the future at some point. There is talk of a weather program in the works right now and a hot-fix from REX.

Peter, no ATC or AI is not a problem with me, I never use it much anyway. As for the scenery, that is where I do most of my flying, so I don't have much intrest in the whole world and if I do I always have FSX.

Interesting rooitou, I am one of those that like P3D and see the potential, specially now with 64bit, but what has been holding me back is the way photoreal looks, even autogen and custom made polys or buildings looked too bleached. I will test that.

I agree with you, P3D scenery usually looks totally artificial to me. That's why I don't use it often.

Please do us a favor and report back as to how your experiment went.

Michael

Being an old chopper guy I usually fly low and slow.
