1redbarron
FSX -Gold Edition I have had to re-allocate my key pad buttons to my joystick (a thrustmaster 2). I have managed to set them up but have a small problem with one setting. I use to be able to hit the centre button L1 (2) on top of the joystick and go from cockpit view to outside view, and then hit the button again and I would got to right wing view and then cockpit view. The problem now is, I have to first hit the F11 button before I can go from inside to outside view. The strange thing is, I only have to hit the F11 button once, after that I can flick from cockpit view to outside just using the joystick button as many times as I want. If anyone can hep me out with this it will be appreciated. f16jockey_2
I don't understand a thing of what you're trying to explain. But from what I see in the pic, you're assigning a button to "View prevoius". When you first enter the sim, there is no "Previous" yet. That's why it doesn't work until you've tapped another view command. Wim
1redbarron
OK. I want to allocate whatever keyboard button I need to my joystick so I get the same views as I had before by just pressing one button on my joystick. The views before were as follows: Press joystick button and move from cockpit view to outside view. Press same joystick button again and move from outside view to right wing view, press it again to move back to cockpit view. f16jockey_2
That's "View (next category)" you need to assign a button to. Btw. that's what I understood the 1st time, but the pic you posted with it seemed so irrelevant I got confused. Wim
1redbarron
Sort of like what happens when you press the S button? Hi Zip, Exactly. Except the joystick allocated view button does not respond until I hit either the 'S' or 'F11' buttons after starting FSX. Once FSX is started and I hit either the 'S' or 'F11' buttons the joystick works fine. I just want to know why the joystick won't respond and move to outside view before I hit the keyboard keys I mentioned. Never had to hit keys S or F11 before. napamule2
Nobody mentioned the 'A' key (View: Next view in category). You need to practice seeing what the 'A' key does DEPENDING ON YOUR CURRENT VIEW (ie: (F9=VC, F10=2D, F11=Locked Spot, F12=Top Down (outside view)). If your default ac is loaded in 'Locked Spot', for example, pressing the 'A' key (or assigned button) will cycle to 'Flyby', then to 'Top Down', then to 'Spot', then back to 'Locked Spot'. Takes practice (or write it down) to get one's head around it and then getting used to 'what-does-what'.
