claudiofalcao
Hello folks! Sorry about my english... I've tried change the vertical position (Z axis) of the some vortices effects but, even changing from -100.00 to 100.00, the effect doesn't move its vertical position. I'd like to put some vortices in a 50N 737 but the vortice is always above the wing, not under the flap. Is it possible to change its vertical position? Thanks in advance. Cláudio - Brasil. mrzippy
Is this on an addon aircraft. Is it freeware? This effect is listed under [smoke] and you are editing the 3rd set of numbers xxx, yyy, zzz (the z numbers)? Still thinking about a new flightsim only computer! I've tried this but there is no change in vertical position. The aircraft is payware 737 from Fifty North.
Allen Craig
The 3rd set of numbers D*O*E*S change the vertical relation of the smoke Try this to prove it [sMOKESYSTEM] smoke.0=-12.232, -12.506, -1.301, fx_smoke_f6_light smoke.1=-12.232, 12.506, -1.301, fx_smoke_f6_light change YOUR 3rd set to a ridiculous amount like... [sMOKESYSTEM] smoke.0=-12.232, -12.506, -9.301, fx_smoke_f6_light smoke.1=-12.232, 12.506, -9.301, fx_smoke_f6_light Now observe your aircraft and the smoke See the VERTICAL change? Adjust accordingly :)
mrzippy
hello mrzippy! Thanks for your comments! I've tried this but there is no change in vertical position. The aircraft is payware 737 from Fifty North. OK, my next question is..... You are saying two different things. Smoke effect and vorticity. Do you turn this effect on by pressing the I key? In that case, the first set is the vertical axis.

Do you turn this effect on by pressing the I key? Hi mrzippy! The wing vortex effect is located at smoke system. I need put it in smokesystem location. I'm using the "I" key but the is a gauge to control it. Note (in the screen) even changing from "-" to "+" the vertical effect's position doesn't change. mrzippy
OK, saw your screenshots. UPDATE: I think you are correct about editing the [smokesystem] in FS9. It works in "My Sim" I won't mention which one. I took the following quote from an AVSIM thread on the same subject. not by changing the Vertical position of the effect in the aircraft.cfg file (that's a "bug" in FS9; that parameter simply does nothing). The only way (in FS9) is to change the effect file parameters themselves. tiger1962
It can be done in FS9 with Nick's Smoke Effects in the library here, by naming the engine or vortex effect file in the [Lights] section as below: light.15=7, -4.000000, -9.049000, 1.000000, fx_nicksmokelear //Engine 1 thrust smoke light.16=8, -4.000000, 9.049000, 1.000000, fx_nicksmokelear //Engine 2 thrust smoke Tim Wright "The older I get, the better I was..." claudiofalcao
OK. Thanks for your support mrzippy! I will try find the thread that you mentioned on Avsim. Best regards. Cláudio I've checked that thread and I think that it is the way to change the vertical coordenate. Here is it: http://www.avsim.com/forums/topic/415877-contrails-and-wing-vortices/ I've got it!
