brian_vancouver
I am using a dedicated computer to run fsx/acceleration, with ORBX and a number of saitek devices. My current configuration is described below. I'll preface by noting that I am NOT particularly tech savvy, but am seeking advice on which component(s) would make the most sense to upgrade in order to realize improved fsx performance. Thank you, Brian Windows 7 CPU: Intel i5-2500k 3.3 GHz Motherboard: ASUS P8P67 Graphics Card: HIS Radeon HD6870 Memory: G.SKILL Ripjaws X 2x4GB Power Supply: Corsair VX550 Disks: Samsung Spinpoint F3 500GB Case: Lian-Li PCK-62 Monitor(s): 2 of: ASUS VH238H 23"
Rupert
I'd use the forum search function under Computer Upgrade. You'll surely find hundreds of posts! This question comes up almost weekly. All the advice you could ever want is there. ;) Being an old chopper guy I usually fly low and slow.
napamule2
I would get a XFX R7 360 ($130 at Amazon). It's overclocked already (1100 Mhz). I got one to 'upgrade' and am very pleased with it. No issues. FSX fps is 29.9 (locked at 30). Native Res is 4096x2160 (but I run FSX at 1920x1200x32). It's also Crossfire capable. Chuck B Napamule i7 2600K @ 3.4 Ghz (Turbo-Boost to 3.877 Ghz), Asus P8H67 Pro, Super Talent 8 Gb DDR3/1333 Dual Channel, XFX Radeon R7-360B 2Gb DDR5, Corsair 650 W PSU, Dell 23 in (2048x1152), Windows7 Pro 64 bit, MS Sidewinder Precision 2 Joy, Logitech K-360 wireless KB & Mouse, Targus PAUK10U USB Keypad for Throttle (F1 to F4)/Spoiler/Tailhook/Wing Fold/Pitch Trim/Parking Brake/Snap to 2D Panel/View Change. Installed on 250 Gb (D:). FS9 and FSX Acceleration (locked at 30 FPS).
