No_Inflight_Meal
A couple of days ago, I downloaded the Delta ERJ 145 XR from POSKY. (via Internet Archive Wayback Machine) where they have all the pages of Posky cached. That ERJ came with the default 737-400; so I successfully replaced it with the default Lear panel. One problem: The Nav and Comm freq's don't react to being clicked on. Everything else works in the radio "stack". But wait, there's more! At the same time, I also downloaded the Delta ERJ 145 LR which came with the default Lear panel. So, You'd think it'd work coming from Posky, as part of the package. Nope. So, I went to the Lear's cfg. (whose radio worked perfectly,) and copied that entire [Radio] section to the other acft in question. No change. I've done this multiple times. Still, the Lear's radio is the only one that works. Thanks in advance No_Inflight_Meal? I've posted all 3 aircraft.cfg's for your review. Hope it helps. ------------------- Lear45 aircraft.CFG [fltsim.0] title=Learjet 45 sim=Lear45 model= panel= sound= texture= kb_checklists=Lear45_check kb_reference=Lear45_ref atc_id=N456LJ ui_manufacturer=Bombardier ui_type="Learjet 45" ui_variation="White with gold and black" description="The Model 45 is Learjet's first all-new aircraft since Bill Lear's first Model 23. Skywatcher12
Anyone? Yeah, ok, me! lol Been a long time since I messed with putting panels in aircraft but sometimes it's not just the radio section you need to copy. I looked at your first cfg which I think you said is the working one and then looked at the other two. In the autopilot section of the not working panels make sure you have this: yaw_damper_gain = 1.0 Currently the bottom two cfg's you posted have it set to 2. I 'think' this should be the fix to your problem. Mark Daniels
StringBean
The only relevant section to the aircraft.cfg is... [Radios] // Radio Type = availiable, standby frequency, has glide slope Audio.1 = 1 Com.1 = 1, 1 Com.2 = 1, 1 Nav.1 = 1, 1, 1 Nav.2 = 1, 1, 0 Adf.1 = 1 Transponder.1 = 1 Marker.1 = 1 When you post three entire files, it makes it hard for us to scroll thru and find the pertinent bits. ;) The key bit of info is, does the radio in question have standby frequencies? If so, the second number after the equal sign has to be 1, if not it needs to be 0. If the radios do not match the aircraft.cfg, they will not work. Of course, this all assumes that you have electrical power and the avionics master is on. If you load a plane with the avionics master off, then switch to a plane that does not have an avionics master, you will have a hard time getting the radios to work. peace, the Bean WWOD---What Would Opa Do? PhantomTweak
Another possibility, maybe, is the [Electrical] section, perhaps? I noticed the second two aircraft.cfg file have a second [electrical] heading, but that it's very limited. Could it be the radios require a specific line to be active in the [eletrical] section to operate? Also, could the current rating be too low for the plane? Possibly? I would try, if the [radio] section doesn't fix the problem, although it probably will, copying the working Lear's [electrical] section into the non-functional plane's file. Make a back-up first of course! Make sure you totally replace the non-functional plane's [electrical] section(s) completely. You can comment them out by placing a // in front of them. That way, it's easy to re-activate them if necessary. Simply delete the //'s you put in. I always include all the lines under the heading also. Or you can just delete them before copying in the functional plane's [electrical] section, in it's entirety. Again, before changing ANYTHING, make a BACKUP FIRST!! That way you can always restore the file to it's original status if something goes wrong. Remember to only use a NotePad type editor, not a word-processor. They add symbols all through the file that render it useless to the sim. I've found that the great and powerful Bean is almost invariably right about stuff like this though, so all my babbling is probably meaningless... Good luck! No_Inflight_Meal
Hiya PhantomTweak and the Group: Thanks for your suggestion, at this point given my level of frustration with this issue, it is appreciated. I had this come up before. I'd look for the panel, in this case, the stock Learjet, and copy the [Radio] settings from the Lear45 and paste it to the aircraft.cfg in question; then - under normal circumstances - the issue would be resolved; but not this time. I did back up the CFG's of the Project Open Sky - which you can access via http://web.archive.org/web/20140625120530/http://poskyarchive.com/ by the way...Delta ERJ XR and LR; both of which now are sporting the Learjet panel. One of them was using the default 737-400 panel. I suppose I digressed a touch. Anyway, I did add the // in front of all text of [Electrical] section. Including the word "Electrical" However, it failed to make a difference in the ability to change the frequencies of Nav 1 and 2 and Com 1 and 2 when I clicked with the mouse. Whether it's helpful at this point, I can't say, but I've taken the liberty of uploading the [Radio] sections from the default LearJet - and the two Delta ERJ's; in one Screenshot. Thanks in advance, No_Inflight_Meal?
PhantomTweak
When you commented out the [Electrical] section, did you copy in the [electrical] from the functional plane? I don't know that it will help, but it might. Also, please note the two that aren't functional have two [Electrical] sections. Make sure you comment out both of them before installing the [Electrical] from the operational plane. Once again, if it doesn't work, just delete the one you copied in, and uncomment the FIRST section in each case. Why there are two, I can't say, but the second, I believe, will override or replace the first, thus rendering it inoperative. If it has a line that the radios need to function, perhaps it is disabling it. Just a thought, and I may well be wrong, but I've had radios not work due to this situation before. Also, as Mr. Bean mentioned, make sure your default flight isn't in a plane that is in a cold-n-dark condition. If you have to, set up a whole new default flight, with the plane fully functioning and engine(s) running, avionics ON, radios ON (if their power is switchable) etc etc. As though your were ready to throw the throttle full on and go flying. Save THAT as the default flight. Then when you switch to the plane you want to fly, the one that doesn't work, you can be sure it's fully set up correctly. I hope something help in all this :) Pat☺ [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Had a thought...then there was the smell of something burning, and sparks, and then a big fire, and then the lights went out! No_Inflight_Meal
As of today, I did comment off both entries of the [electrical] section, all lines, and pasted in the [electrical] section from the Learjet. No dice. I did change the yaw damper setting under [autopilot] setting. Sadly, no change. The panel of the other erj's look exactly like the default Lear. This is presuming, your Cessna is up and running as the program loads. I have the Grabowski panels and the ERJ's, his panels were designed to go with. Lots of "eye candy" there; and it's nicely done. However, I'd rather use an autopilot. The theory being, I'd arrive at my destination on time. If you guys can think of anything, or I can provide anything to make it easier, just let me know. No_Inflight_Meal
Hiya the Bean, The radio unit in question, is the very same one you'll find in the default Lear 45. On that unit/radio it uses the direct entry method to change the frequency. In other words, there is no need. to transfer from the standby frequency to the active, when you use the Lear45's panel. Initially, I tried it the easy way: just copy the [Radio] section from the Lear45 aircraft.cfg - and pasted that into the [Radio] section of the ERJ's. I was very surprised to find out that numbers in radio display, remained static - when I was using the same [Radio] section that came from the Lear aircraft.cfg, which was working. That [Radio] is posted in this thread. When the "no standby" didn't work, I changed all applicable 0's to 1's; more than once. Guess what. That didn't work either, but the Lear45's radio works as posted. Go figure... No_Inflight_Meal?
ViperPilot2
Just as an aside, I've been using this Panel for both the ERJ's and the Legacy 100/300... Plus other modifications were made within Lear_45.gau which will display aircraft spec data on the EICAS. Many default gauges were relocated, changed in size, etc. to give a functional panel that makes IFR flying with the Lear a pleasure. By Glenn Copeland. StringBean
OK, back to basics. Are we talking about 2D panels or VC's? I am assuming those Posky planes have no VC's, I could be wrong. Did they come with panels or do they alias to the default panel? Did they come with any gauges? Do you have the default Lear gauge in FS9\Gauges? What is the date on the file? Can you change the frequencies in the Posky planes by using the keyboard? Have you verified, by switching to the default Cessna 172, that the avionics master is on? That the alternator/generator is on? That the battery master is on? Have you checked that there is only one [Radios] section in the aircraft.cfg? Is your sim installed in the Program Files folder? What version of Windows are you using? Have you successfully edited other aircraft/panel.cfg files? Just to verify, the default Lear works as expected? peace, the Bean WWOD---What Would Opa Do? No_Inflight_Meal
Thanks for your reply. After some testing, your assumptions turned out to be correct - No VC in any of the ERJ's in question. Panel Supplied The XR came aliased to the 737-400. The LR came aliased to the default Lear panel. I should note that I changed out the 737-400 panel, by changing the alias, to the Lear45, which then displayed perfectly. I found it very interesting that the XR that came with the Lear panel as part of the download, the radios didn't work. Hmmmmm. Gauges: None that I'm aware of. The installation procedure was simple. Unzip to a Temp. Folder, and take resulting contents and put them in the Aircraft folder. (for fs9 install.) And that's it. Don't worry, the a/c shows up in 2004. I found this in the Gauges folder for the Default Lear (for FS9) lear_45.radio_stack.gau 4/17/2001 Is that the one you are looking for? Nav Keyboard Commands I can *highlight* the nav digits, but I **can not** get them to change using the plus and minus keys. When the Cessna Loads...switches Absolutely. all four switches, that you refer to in your post, are running, as fs9 loads normally, with the Cessna running with all systems on and ready to go. I've look at this more than once. Installation: It's in the default location, as determined by Microsoft. Program Files (x86) OS: Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit Successful Edits of Cfg's: Yes I have. The installation of Historic Jetliners Group freeware a/c which are a multi-step process. However, they provide the instructions as to how it's done in the d/l. I'm familiar with installing textures, and panels - but beyond the [General] section, I only have familiarity with the [Radio] section. Default Lear's Radio: Yes indeed, they work. Capt_Flappers
I saw this post 2 days ago, been wracking my brain ever since. I had this exact same problem about 2 weeks ago with a Posky Bombardier with a 3rd party panel that used the default lear gauge for the radio stack. There is a solution, but for the life of me I can't remember what is was right now. it's not in the [radios] section or the panel.cfg as far as I remember, and not with the gauge either . Drove me nuts. It might have been something with the title= line in the [fltsim.x] section (like if there is an AI plane with the exact same title= line it may cause issues with your plane), or it might have been something else, but there is a solution, I'm still thinking about it, if I remember what it was I'll post back, in the meantime good luck. - bernie p.s. no need to call me Capt folks, Capt Flappers is just a name my wife teases me with because of my flight sim obsession. :o
StringBean
Gauges: I found this in the Gauges folder for the Default Lear (for FS9) lear_45.radio_stack.gau 4/17/2001 Is that the one you are looking for? Sorry, I should have been more clear, I was talking about the gauge that FS9 actually uses, Lear_45.gau, which should be dated 12 June, 2003 AFAIK lear_45.radio_stack.gau is there for legacy aircraft, pre-FS20004. Nav Keyboard Commands I can *highlight* the nav digits, but I **can not** get them to change using the plus and minus keys. Sorry, I was thinking more along the lines of autotuning the COMM radio thru the ATC menu. Highlight? Are you trying to change frequencies by using the "N" key on your keyboard? I had it in my mind that this was a mouse issue. If you hover your mouse over the numbers do you get the hand with the +/- sign next to it? Installation: It's in the default location, as determined by Microsoft. Program Files (x86) OS: Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit OK, look in C:\Users\your account name\AppData\Local for a folder named VirtualStore. If you have that folder, look in it for FS stuff. You might need to first go to the Control Panel > View by:Small icons > Folder Options > View tab and check the radio button next to "Show hidden files, folders, and drives" Also remove the check from "Hide extensions for known file types". peace, the Bean [added] You might look at comgold.zip too. No_Inflight_Meal
Thanks for the reply. Gauge: I can confirm, I do have the Lear_45.gau from 6/12/2003 Radio Stack and the Mouse: I do get the + and the - symbols when you hover the mouse over that specific area that would change the digits. But, unfortunately, when I click the left mouse button, nothing changes as far as the frequency is concerned. This is true of Nav1 and Nav2; Com1 and Com2. ADF and XPNDR work normally, just as they should. VirtualStore Folder: Found it just where you said. The path: VirtualStore>Program Files (x86) which opens up to: Common Files, non fs related programs, and the one I think you are looking for: Microsoft Games>Flight Simulator 9, which opens up to Add on Scenery, Aircraft, Flight One Software (ATR 72-500) As far as files go, there are: Damage Module Readme.txt, d6b2k4. txt ComGold: Thanks for the suggestion. It looks like something I'd be interested in, however, when I viewed the panel installation instructions, - as he calls them - it looks a bit complicated, daunting, when you bear in mind it's something I have no experience in doing. PhantomTweak
Could someone help me with the installation? It's easier than it looks. I use that radio on a number of aircraft, FS9 and FSX. Make a backup of the desired plane's Panel.cfg file. Just lclkick on it, then rclick on it, and select COPY from the pull down menu. Lclick on an empty area of the folder and the rclick. Selct PASTE. Bingo, backed up file. If you mess the one you want to edit totally, delete it, and rename the panel-copy.cfg file you just made to Panel.cfg, voila! you have restored the original. Now open the panel.cfg with NotePad, which comes with Windows, or NotePad++, which is a freeware DL. DO NOT USE A WORD PROCESSOR! They add symbols to .cfg files that make them unusable to the Sim. At the top of the file you will see a section [Window Titles]. look down through that section to the line that says windowXX=Radio_Stack, where XX is whatever number they have assigned to it. Change the words Radio Stack to read Comgold. thus: windowXX=Comgold. Save the file. Now scan down through the file until you wind a section labeled [WindowXX] where XX is the number you saw in the [Window Titles] section. Now, comes the really easy part: copy-n-paste the following lines in place of what's there already: BACKGROUND_COLOR=0,0,0 size_mm=126,158 position=0 visible=0 ident=RADIO_STACK_PANEL gauge00=Radio_ComGold!Radio_ComGold, 0, 0, 126, 158 Make sure, when you highlight the text below the [WindowXX] header, that you highlight ALL of it, not just one line or two. There are quite a few more than in the new one, so be care full you get all the old, or original, ones highlighted. THAT I am going to presume you know how to do :D Save the file, and close it. As akways, MAKE A BACKUP of the aircraft.cfg before you edit it!! Open the aircraft.cfg file, again, using NotePad or NotePad++. Replace the [Radio] section in it with [Radios] // Radio Type = available, standby frequency, has glide slope Audio.1 = 1 Com.1 = 1, 0 Com.2 = 1, 0 Nav.1 = 1, 1, 1 Nav.2 = 1, 1, 0 Adf.1 = 1, 0 Adf.2 = 0 Transponder.1 = 1 Marker.1 = 1 Save the file. Close it. Done. That's all there is to it :) If you should choose NOT to install this radio, then make sure that the Lear_45.gau file is in the \Gauges folder. The OTHER planes than the Lear won't be able to find it if it isn't there, or in the \Panel folder of the plane using the radio. Does all that help at all? No_Inflight_Meal
Phantom Tweak, Just for fun - for lack of a better word - I'd thought I'd have a go at installing the ComGold. I only made it as far as making my backups, because, believe it or not, in the Lear's Panel.cfg, located in the panel folder, which is inside the Lear Folder, which is inside, the Aircraft Directory, of FS9... It turns out, like I said, believe it or not, there is no windowXX=Radio_Stack, which in my case this windows number would be 07, as "Mini Panel" occupies the 06 slot, and the list ends at that point; under the [Window Titles] section. The strange thing is, even being absent the above, the radio in the default Lear45 works perfectly. Go figure. No_Inflight_Meal?

Believe it or not, a popup window for the radio stack is not a requirement for the radio to function. It just makes it easier for manual tuning and pushing the audio buttons. On most of the 3rd party freeware aircraft that don't come with that feature, I always put it in the panel.cfg myself. Still thinking about a new flightsim only computer! PhantomTweak
Ok, in the Lear 45 Panel.cfg, they made the radio stack integral (big, fancy word, huh?) to the main panel. You can either leave it there and ADD the Comgold, as a separate pop-up, or you can replace it on the main panel. Replacing it in the main panel presents it's own problems, mainly making it the exact right size to fit the hole it would fill. This isn't all that difficult, really, but it can take a while fiddling with the numbers to get it juuuust right. Making it a separate pop-up, however is very simple: Just add a line to the [Window Titles] section below window6=..., that reads window7=Comgold. Now, add a section below all the other ones that are there, but above the first [VCockpit01] section, thus: [Window07]. Tough, huh? :) Now, follow the rest of the directions I posted, starting at "Now, comes the really easy part: copy-n-paste the following lines in place of what's there already:" and continuing on from there. You just won't have anything to "replace" except empty space. Like in my ex's head... :p Doing all this will make a pop-up of the Comgold, as SHFT+8, in addition to the radio stack included in the main panel. If you don't want the currently present radio stack on the main panel at all, just put a double forward-slash (//) in front of the line gauge14=... . That will make the radio stack that is there just...disappear :) Leaving it there won't really cause a problems. Anything you enter on the Comgold radios will show up on the other radio stack, and vice-versa. To me, the ComGold is just much easier to enter "stuff" on. The numeric keypad is just a ton easier for me to use. Quicker, too. That's all. Really not as hard as you might think. Once you do stuff like this a few times, your confidence will soar. Now, if you want, I can try to explaining how to replace the existent radio stack entry on the main panel, teaching you how to position and size it correctly to fit the hole that's there. This IS on the 2D panel, by the way. VC's are a bit harder, but not impossible. Also, if you want a numeric keypad only, to enter COM and NAV frequencies on, as well as course, heading, and other radio and AP data into, while keeping the existent radios in place, there is a wonderful little add-on pop-up called Cockpit Commander I can tell you about. You can throw it into any plane's panel quickly and easily. It even has it's own icon for use on the panel to pop it up, like the GPS, or ATC pop-up windows, or any other pop-up. Saves you from having to use the SHFT+X key combo. Also, very handy if there are more than 8 pop-up's. I use it on many aircraft, and just love it. But that's for another day :D I hope this get's you squared away! No_Inflight_Meal
In the panel.cfg of the Default Lear...I added to the [Window Titles] section, (first one,) window07=Comgold. Then, I added a [window07] below [window06]. The information that I pasted, can be found on page 2, and look for Phantom Tweak's post...which was pasted in similar fashion as the information above...[window06]. I copied the [Radio] information he supplied in the thread, and pasted it over the existing [Radio] section. Clicked save. I had FS2004 open at the time, so I shut it down, and restarted. Unfortunately, no Comgold appeared. For better or for worse, it looks like the lear panel just as before. But the good news is, This radio works. Lest I forget to mention, I backed up the cfg's in question. No_Inflight_Meal?
PhantomTweak
Did you hit SHFT+8 to see the Comgold? You added it as a pop-up window, not a replacement to what was in the original 2D Panel. That radio stack is still there, but now, you can pop-up the Comgold, should you wish. If you wanted it in place of the radio stack that's on the panel when you start up, we can do that too, or have it open when you start as a pop-up. Up to you :D Pat☺ [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Had a thought...then there was the smell of something burning, and sparks, and then a big fire, and then the lights went out! I guess I better not do that again!
