CessnaFlyer
hello all. I just bought the PMDG 737 last night. and have been reading the manual today. and I see there is no GPS for the aircraft just the FMC. does any one have navigraph and what does it cost to use and how complicated is it? I can't get my new airplane to start but one engine let alone try doing any thing else yet giving up on flight simulation for good:D
il88pp
In the PMDG the navdata is in the FMC. A version of the navdada is included in the plane when you buy it, so you can fly it right away, but that's an older copy of the data. Navdata (airways, VOR locations, STARS standard terminal arrival routes, and SID's standard instrument departure paths) get updated every month. In real life at least. The new navdata info can be downloaded and then imported in the PMDG FMC. You can buy it from the Navigraph website. Either as a one time thing, or you can buy a subscription so you get the new data each month. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
CessnaFlyer
oh ok so it uses the information in FSX then? so I do not need to buy navigraph? cause I think I know how to set those up. I am not done with all the manuals yet. I hate to have a plane that I can't fly cause I can't navigate any where in it. giving up on flight simulation for good:D
il88pp
No, what I meant is that (as far as I know) an old copy of the Navigraph Navdata is included. but, I looked at it again, and I may be wrong about that. I posted that same answer recently, but now I couldn't find the info in the sales page. I was sure I found a link before so I searched the forum for that previous thread. Turns out that thread was about a different plane! (from Wilco) So forget I said anything... sorry. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

I know it's too complex for me so I passed on it.. rishabk97
Read up the tutorial and do the recommended flight. It will help you for a quick start. PMDG is not your regular download and fly plane. It requires some knowledge about the equipment. Navigraph data, as il88pp correctly said in his first reply, contains data like the list of airports, navaids, SIDs, STARs, airways, etc.. And yes, there is always an old version of NavData included. It is up to you if you want to update it or not. If you fly on online networks, it becomes necessary to update it at least twice a year. If you don't, then probably you can survive with the old navdata. Also, there is another alternative to Navigraph navdata, NavDataPro by Aerosoft. http://www.crossed-flag-pins.com/animated-flag-gif/gifs/India_120-animated-flag-gifs.gifhttp://status.ivao.aero/414320.png
MrUnSavory
There are also some good tutorial videos on the web that walk you through aircraft start-up and programming the FMC and other stuff.... :)
CessnaFlyer
I bought it for the complexity and realism. plus I can use plan-g and the default GPS and bypass the FMC for now. so I can still fly it. cause I can us the GPS from the default 737.:D giving up on flight simulation for good:D
aerosim31
Trust me its worth learning the FMC system, its amazing technology :D. On the navigraph side, there are tutorials on YouTube that shows you the navigational charts and how to interpret them. Did Gatwick to Tripoli in 777, landed perfect with FMC and GS. No GPS business. CessnaFlyer
well I already spent 70.00$ on the plane it's self. I just don't know if I want to spend more money on the thing or not right now. giving up on flight simulation for good:D
TightGit
Yes, it does take a little effort to learn the FMC, but isn't that part of the fun? PMDG aeroplanes are the closest you'll get to the real thing and I can now confidently fly their B747 from/to anywhere. If an old chap like me can do it, I'm sure you can! :D
rishabk97
I just don't know if I want to spend more money on the thing or not right now. More money on what? The manuals come along with your aircraft. It is not a requirement for you to keep your NavData updated. You can fly with the old data too! http://www.crossed-flag-pins.com/animated-flag-gif/gifs/India_120-animated-flag-gifs.gifhttp://status.ivao.aero/414320.png

CessnaFlyer
Something wrong with your installation then. I'd fix that first. I will try but I have been so busy the last 2 days I have not got the chance to even look at my new plane let alone fly it giving up on flight simulation for good:D
CessnaFlyer
hi guys. according to my FMC it does have data in it. so do I still need navigraph? cause I am watching the startup tutorial for the plane now. and I will be getting to the FMC tutorial later. giving up on flight simulation for good:D
rishabk97
No, unless you want to be updated. The tutorial docs should work absolutely fine with the default AIRAC. http://www.crossed-flag-pins.com/animated-flag-gif/gifs/India_120-animated-flag-gifs.gifhttp://status.ivao.aero/414320.png
