csmj
Today I flew a plane into Miami International, runway 27R, and neither the ILS nor the VASI worked properly. The visual ILS pathway was over 1000' too high, so I flew an eyeball approach, and the VASI stayed white and never got pink (or red) the entire approach. The scenery there is FS9 default. The day before, I flew into Ft. Lauderdale Int'l, also default scenery, and the ILS worked properly but even staying on the glide path the VASI was continually red, never pink or white. This was the first time for me at both airports. I have not experienced these sorts of malfunctions at other airports, is this sort of thing common? And is it possible to correct these in a .cfg file somewhere? Thanks, Clayton My FS web site: http://www.cjcom.net/FS-a.htm with screen shots and short articles. Updated regularly. csmj
Well that was interesting. I started up FS9 again and took the same plane to the same airport and runway and now the ILS and VASI are both working ok. Maybe it was tired of 2015 and waited until 2016 to correct itself :) Happy New Year everyone! Clayton My FS web site: http://www.cjcom.net/FS-a.htm with screen shots and short articles. shanwick
Most likely it was memory that got screwed up somehow and a reboot fixed it. It's happened to me on the odd occasion in the past. Dijvid

Dijvid Thanks, good to hear it has happened to someone else before and not something unique to this system. Clayton My FS web site: http://www.cjcom.net/FS-a.htm with screen shots and short articles. dspaulding
Glad to see it corrected itself, but it isn't uncommon to have a GS not coincide with a VASI or PAPI or any other visual system in use. There are airports out there that have instrument approaches where the glide path is steeper than the projected VASI glide path. I don't have an example for you at the moment, but just an FYI they are out there.

I had a visual glide path once that was way too high, and suddenly a few miles out it dropped about 2000' to the proper height and continued correctly from there. SLEW mode can be handy at times :) Clayton My FS web site: http://www.cjcom.net/FS-a.htm with screen shots and short articles. Updated regularly. Probably an old screen name for the ding dong posting Spam and inserting it in as quotes from others! Still thinking about a new flightsim only computer! dspaulding
Wings is a sitcom that was done for about 7 seasons. It was produced by the same who did the sitcom Cheers. Ironically both tv shows took place in the state of Massachusetts. Wings was based on the Cape Air operations done in real life. It's outdated as far as humor goes, but it does have some chuckles left.
dspaulding
As far as Lowell goes, he plays as the "ding bat", aircraft/airport mechanic. I'd say he's probably most of the comic relief in the show. Although I do like Brian's humor as well.
