Hena330
Hello all, over the past month or so I have been in constant battle with what seems to be a weather bug within the sim. What has happened numerous times is that the weather which is supposed to be 230/12 can quickly (within a matter of seconds) turn into 230/200, which for a tailwind and such a quick change tends to bring trouble to my aircraft  Another example was a departure out of Adelaide, surface winds were 9 knots with 20 degrees c, 2000ft, the winds were 100knots, with a temperature of -20. I assumed this was my weather engine, which was FSXWX as it being freeware, I uninstalled it, yet the problem still persisted. I thought that ASN may be the way to go... nope (Still a worthy purchase though) I have the latest version of FSUIPC installed and registered. These anomalies are seen with all of my current add-on aircraft (PMDG 777, 737NGX, Aerosoft Airbus, etc). I am unaware of the situation of default aircraft. Any help would be greatly appreciated, I have yet to find a solution to this somewhat inconvenient 'Bug' Kind regards, Henri http://prepar3d.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/34.jpg http://downloads.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/Boeing777_Banner_Pilot.jpg
torkermax
ASN would be a good solution. Your situation is not unique to just P3D. It is a scenario in all FS versions. The default weather engine smoothing isn't the best. mallcott
P3D does NOT include a realtime weather engine, so what you have done is introduce a problem via whatever weather engine you have selected. I would begin by creating a whole new default flight, eliminate all the possible variables that could be causing the issue based on inherited flight information. What you can then do is select a key combo for clear all weather using FSUIPC, and force ASN to reload the weather. If the problem recurs, then use the key. vgbaron
If that doesn't work, open a support ticket for ASN at support.hifitechinc.com Vic P3D Rig I7 7700K @ 5.0ghz Asus Maximus X270 16G G.Skill 3600 15-15-15-18 2T EVGARTX2080ti Corsair 1000W PSU 1TB Samsung SSD for P3D - 2 - 256G OCZ Vector SSD - HAF X - Corsiar H100i V2 Liquid Cooler W10 64 Pro. Jim Robinson
As I recall FSXWX requires some rather intrusive modifications: - replace wxmapping.bin (with one supplied by FSXWX) - replace ThermalDescriptions.xml (with one supplied by FSXWX) - FSX.cfg modifications: [Weather] TurbulenceScale=0.800000 CLOUD_COVERAGE_DENSITY=8 CLOUD_DRAW_DISTANCE=4 - some (possibly) unorthodox WX settings in FSUIPC I like FSXWX personally and I thought it worked well in FSX and P3D v2.x (haven't yet tried it in v3) but to use it IMHO you need to have a backup plan in place for all the changes it requires (as instructed on the site). Did you revert those changes when you stopped using FSXWX?
Hena330
Hello all, Thanks for all of your suggestions and I will report back after further testing Regarding FSXWX, I replaced all of the files with my backed up original P3D files. Hena330
Hello all, Just a quick update on the weather, I performed a flight from YPAD-YMML in the NGX, this time using a clear weather setting for the default flight. I loaded ASN after loading the sim, and all was well for the flight. The problem with this is that the 'bug' tends to be a bit of 'here and there' and it may take time to tell whether this will fix the solution. I will continue to carry out flight tests and report back with any anomalies.
