scrollinggrandpa
Hi all. I just installed the above crop duster in FSX and everything is working fine except when I hit key I on the keyboard to dispense dust the dust comes out the left wing tip in a vertical span rather than horizontally along the trailing wing edge. Is there a way to fix this? Thanks in advance.

napamule2
The co-ordinates for FSX is different to FS9. Google it to find fix. Simple copy & paste of above (smoke) section into your aircraft cfg (Zippy post) should do it. Either comment out what is there or just delete / overwrite it. The Sim will read the first (smoke) section it 'runs into' (top to bottom) if you have 2 (smoke) sections in cfg but you don't need or want (any) duplicate sections in cfg. Neatness counts (hehe). jandjfrench
Hi, This seemed really strange. I don't know of any major differences in the smoke systems in 9 and X. I also noticed a HUGE difference in the download sizes so I decided to check it out. The first thing I noticed was no sound. It's aliased to the C208 so adding a "B" should fix that; and perhaps the sound files are included in the FSX version which would account for the file size difference. Checking the smoke I saw what Scrolling described. The .cfg shows this: [smokesystem] smoke.0=0.00, -20.00, -23.00, fx_thrush_spray_tip_minus //Y, X, Z smoke.1=0.00, -20.00, -20.00, fx_thrush_spray smoke.2=0.00, -20.00, -17.00, fx_thrush_spray smoke.3=0.00, -20.00, -14.00, fx_thrush_spray smoke.4=0.00, -20.00, -11.00, fx_thrush_spray smoke.5=0.00, -20.00, -7.00, fx_thrush_spray smoke.6=0.00, -20.00, -3.00, fx_thrush_spray smoke.7=0.00, -20.00, 3.00, fx_thrush_spray smoke.8=0.00, -20.00, 7.00, fx_thrush_spray smoke.9=0.00, -20.00, 11.00, fx_thrush_spray smoke.10=0.00, -20.00, 14.00, fx_thrush_spray smoke.11=0.00, -20.00, 17.00, fx_thrush_spray smoke.12=0.00, -20.00, 20.00, fx_thrush_spray smoke.13=0.00, -20.00, 23.00, fx_thrush_spray_tip_plus (I added the "//Y, X, Z" so I didn't get confused) Well that explains the display but it should display exactly the same in FS9 so I can't figure out why the FS9 file was left as is. napamule2
Perhaps I should of said THE ORDER (X,Y,Z) is different for FS9 and FSX - NOT the VALUES. Cheesh. jandjfrench
Hi Chuck, I didn't see your post before I posted. I don't remember running into the difference in the smoke section before. I have FS9 installed and I'll check. Can't check right now but I'll post when able. Jim
jandjfrench
Hi, Checked and the smoke is fine in FS9. I can't think of any reason as to why the difference between 9 and X; seems totally arbitrary. Jim

napamule2
No it's not a 'typo' and it isn't 'arbitrary'. Read em and weep. jandjfrench
Hi, I wasn't recommending against using the FSX version I was just curious about the differences between the two. For FSX the modified Thrush is, by far, the better choice; not only for the smoke system but other fixes as well. The change to the smoke system being a typo (read screw up) seems reasonable to me. Jim Yes, it was a fix intended for SP3 as it was the simple result of a transposition error. But then, poof!, there was no ACES, and therefore no SP3... Reasonable to expect DTG might have fixed it, but clearly all they want is the database of FSX users.
