My home airport is ksna in California. The FAA has recently changed the runways from 19L/R to 20 L/R and 1L/R to 2 L/R. There are some great add on scenery for ksna. Does any one know how to change the runways on the scenery. I have never even attempted to write scenery so I don't really know where to start. Any help would be appreciated.

Which edition of FSX do you have installed.

The new Steam edition (available through download only)

or

The FSX basic edition Disks

or

The FSX Deluxe Disks (2disks)

or

Or FSX DeLuxe disks and FSX acceleration Disk. (Sold seperately, and als sold together as three-disk-set as "FSX GOLD")

Got the file from a friend, and edited the rnwy numbers so it reads correct, but i dont know if the ident is correct, that you can easy edit your self.

KSNA for FSX

Place the two files in your addon scenery/scenery folder, and off you go...

You may be able to find an addon for that airport where the runways are already updated.

If you can't find one, there is a way to edit airports. You can add buildings , change runways, add more parking space, etc. You don't touch the default airport, you basically create your own addon of the airport, and install it like any other Addon Airport.

The program to edit airports is called ADE. (Airport Design Editor.) It is free.

But, before you install ADE, you will first need to install the SDK (Software Development Kit). ADE requires the SDK to create it's files. The SDK comes with the FSX DeLuxe disks.

Install the SDK first, and make sure it is working correctly. Only once that works start thinking about ADE again.

Start out with this thread.

https://www.flightsim.com/vbfs/showthread.php?286712-can-i-make-a-grass-strip-airstrip-out-in-the-boonies

especially my post number 6.

My post (6) is basic info about the SDK. Read carefully.

There is a link in post 6, to another thread.

There you will then find more specific info on getting started with installing the SDK, and a link to the SDK-Wiki which you must also read. There's also some info on ADE.

Take your time for this, no rush.

Read all the instructions about the SDK carefully a few times, especially the Wiki, and make sure you understand them all before starting. Don't start installing straight away, let it sink in for a while.

That way you'll get it right first time.

And if you get stuck, don't panic. Just ask for help on the forum, and it is often quite easy to fix. If you are unsure how to procede, don't hesitate to ask.

enjoy,

KSNA for FSX

Place the two files in your addon scenery/scenery folder, and off you go...

Placed 'em in there and it made no difference to KSNA (John Wayne airport). Runways are still 1L/R and 19L/R

They are not that here, it says 2/20 and works fine here, so no huzzle here...

Here is the picture just taken from the airport saying 2/20 L-R

Rightclick picture, and view picture, then you get the full size..

OK, I got it to work! This time I just added it using the scenery library and started a new flight and did not use my default flight that uses KSNA.

The new runways are now showing. Good job Harald!

Here is another shot from the same airport, just talking to tower for clearance to take off, look what the radio says from the tower, notice the red square:

Same again, right click picture, and show image/picture

Tried this from both versions of FSX. Steam and normal version, they both shows the same as mentioned above..

Fixed runway markings to match the new numbers as well, sorry, forgot that in the first one, now i hope it is corrected..
