/images/notams/notams21/phoe0715/vskylabs-1.jpgVSKYLABS are updating their Phoenix Air U-15 LSA Project forX-Plane. First started way back in 2017, this latest update includes acomplete remake of the aircraft: Great news! The VSKYLABS Phoenix Air U-15 LSA Project for X-Planeby Laminar Research is about to exceed a major update release point toversion 6.0. The new version includes almost a complete remake of theentire project, bringing it to fall in line with the latest VSKYLABSprojects (initial release version v1.0 was released in March2017!) /images/notams/notams21/phoe0715/vskylabs-2.jpgThe Phoenix Air Phoenix is a Czech low-wing, two-seat motor glider, designed and manufactured by Phoenix Air(http://www.phoenixair.cz -developed by Martin A Stepanek) and it is provided as acomplete ready-to-fly aircraft. The Phoenix is powered by a Rotax 912ULS 100hp engine and it was designed to comply with the FederationAeronautique Internationale microlight rules and US light-sportaircraft rules. It is built from composites. Its 15 m span wing can be converted to11 m by removing the wing tips and installing shorter ones for fastercruise speed when flown as a microlight aircraft. The Phoenix can be flown for hundreds or thousands of miles witheither sets of wings. It is a super-versatile, state of the art lightsport aircraft. Release of the new version of the VSKYLABS PhoenixAir U-15 LSA Project will take place during July 2021. Although beinga major update release, the update will be FREE to all existingcustomers! Source

/images/notams/notams19/vsky0829/vskylabs-1.jpgThe VSKYLABS Phoenix Air U15 S-LSA Pro-Edition v5.0 was just released! Project version v5.0 highlights, update log, on-line POH and morecan be found in the project main pages at theVSKYLABS web site. This project is part of the VSKYLABS 'Test-Pilot' series, designedspecifically for use with X-Plane 11.30+ cutting edge ExperimentalFlight Model (should be enabled in X-Plane's General Settingsmenu). The VSKYLABS U15 project was developed for X-Plane with theapproval of 'Phoenix Air' (which are developing and manufacturing theU-15, stationed in the Czech Republic), as an independent VSKYLABSproject. The VSKYLABS U15 Project variants were/are being used forvarious research purposes by 'Phoenix Air'. /images/notams/notams19/vsky0829/vskylabs-2.jpgThe Phoenix Air U-15 S-LSA aircraft was developed by MartinStepanek, designed to comply with the FAI and the US FAA LSArules. The U-15 is powered by a Rotax 912UL/ULS engine. It is made ofcomposite materials, equipped with a removable/switchable wing-tipswith the capability of changing its wingspan from 15m to 11m in lessthan a minute, and can be flown as light sport aircraft or as a motorglider. The Phoenix U-15 had participated in NASA Green FlightChallenge (conceptual design approaches and technologies to enable 200Passenger Miles per Gallon). The update is free to all current VSKYLABS U15 flyers! /images/notams/notams19/vsky0829/vskylabs-3.jpg /images/notams/notams19/vsky0829/vskylabs-4.jpgSource

/images/notams/notams18/ikar0911/ikar0911.jpgThis plane is very special for us, because one of our team membersis currently training for his sports pilots license (SPL) on aC42. Actually, Mario flies two different C42Cs: D-MYSF and D-MNLNwhich both belong to the flying school Magdeburg (flugschule-md.de),at EDBM airport in the city of Magdeburg in central Germany. The Ikarus is the most common ultra light model in Germany, and isvery popular in Europe and many other countries. The C42C is afabric-and-tube construction, and is extremely light weight with verygood useful load. Powered by a Rotax 912 engine, the Ikarus sips fuelat a very low rate and is surprisingly roomy. /images/notams/notams18/ikar0911/ikarus-1.jpgTwo different instrument panels are included with the Ikarus, a"Basic Trainer" and a "Full Panel." Special FeaturesCreated from actual hands-on experience flying an Ikarus C42C (D-MYSF)VR compatible - fully optimized for VR useTwo different panels included:o The Basic Trainer has the essential gauges and instruments for VFR training flights (Altimeter, Airspeed, Vertical Speed (variometer), Slip Indicator, Magnetic Compass, COM radio (no NAV radio), and engine monitor gaugeso The Full Panel version adds a transponder and a "vfamap L" glass panel instrument loosely modeled from the flymap L® - includes a simple GPS Flight Planner, an Artifical Horizon with waypoint information, and a moving-map display with GPS flight plan overlay (used the X-Plane G1000 moving map). The Full Panel version also has a simulated FLARM traffic alert monitor that will track your AI aircraftAccurate flight characteristics based on input from our own in-house C42C student pilot MarioSemi-transparent fabric-covered wings and empennageFMOD sounds - more than 85 original, actual sound recordings used for FMOD sounds, including engine running (forward, aft, left and right), flaps, switches, doors, ground roll, propeller turn-by-hand, sun visors, engine starter, engine shut-down and many more /images/notams/notams18/ikar0911/ikarus-2.jpgFully animated hi-res model with PBR effects inside and out, HDR lighting and very highly detailed modeling creates an immersive, realistic experienceInteractive, animated virtual pre-flight inspection takes you on guided walk-around of the Ikarus (VR compatible using teleport hot-spots) using interactive check lists. If you conduct your pre-flight in early morning or late evening, spot lights are automaticallyprovided at each of the six inspection stations. We even simulated the famous Rotax engine "burp"!User-customizable air charts feature allows you create a matrix of nine air charts that can be scrolled up/down and left/right and "stitched together" to form a large, virtual "paper" chart that can be popped up inside the cockpitPop-out gauges make it easier to see and operate the gauges and instruments (VR friendly)COM radio allows you to save up to (30) radio frequencies in memory and recall them for use anytime you fly. Store your most-used frequencies!Choice of female or male animated copilotEngine choke operation is functional (simulated)Realistic engine effects unique to the Rotax 912, such as slow idle after first starting the engineRealistic BRS parachute, including safety pin that must be removed prior to operating the BRS, and a blow-off parachute hatch with actual BRS rocket soundChoice of metric or imperial units for gauges and instruments (your choice is saved each time you quit X-Plane or unload the airplane)Choice of English or German language for instruments and menus (your choice is saved each time you quit X-Plane or unload the airplane) /images/notams/notams18/ikar0911/ikarus-3.jpgKneeboard allows the pilot to choose Options and settings, remove ground elements, select nose gear steering, select a copilot (or none), add or reduce fuel payload, adjust pilot and copilot weights, select your language choice (English or German), and select your units preference (metric or imperial)14 different liveries provided, including the two actual liveries flown by Mario (D-MYSF and D-MNLN)Over 75 different save-states are recorded each time you quit X-Plane or unload the Ikarus. Save-states are reloaded the next time you fly. Save-states include options choices, settings, switches, doors, vents, etc.Pop-out check list for quick referenceRealistic vibrations on control surfaces due to prop wash and engine vibrationRealistic vibration effects inside the cockpit due to engine vibrationIllustrated User Manual providedGerman and English-language POH provided (not for real flight!)Custom 3D propeller disc effectPaint kit available - create your own livery Purchase Ikarus C42C Ultralight
