/images/notams/notams20/care0424.jpgAll our aircraft are compatible with the new P3D v5. Although our installers don't have the default P3D v5 installationpath, you can manually install them selecting the P3D v4.4 (or up) andthen choosing the P3D v5 root folder. If your aircraft utilizes Navigraph (Proline21 and some of ourG1000) and/or a weather radar you need our "Carenado P3Dv5Patch". This is a generic patch which requires to be run only once(no matter how many Carenado aircraft do you have). You can get more information and the patch clicking in the link below. /images/notams/notams20/uk2k0417.jpgWe've uploaded a few new changes tonight. Installer is now V1.33 (it now sees P3D V5 effects folder). Common Library is now 3.72 (includes new Dynamic lighting effects). Our first test product is Prestwick, only change needed was to makesure the dark base image tiles were installed with the FTX optiononly. So if you own this product in your library can you please installand report if it's OK for you. (note: there is no P3D animation atPrestwick). Also, Luton2020HD and Gatwick Xtreme for P3D V5 are now availablefor download. Please let us know if you have any problems. Source

/images/notams/notams20/uk2k0417.jpgWe now have P3D V5 and will talk about some of the technicalproblems here. Materials and objects not appearing: From what we can see,the reason why our P3D V4 compiled models don't work, is probably bymistake not by design. With the P3D V4 SDK, you could use new PBRMaterial or classic materials (or a mixture in the same model). We onlyused PBR for the ground. With P3D V5, only the P3D V4 compiled ground using PBR works in P3DV5, the P3D V4 compiled classic material doesn't work. The dumb thingis that the old P3D and FSX models do work, this is why we think it'sa LM mistake and bug. We tried to compile Luton with FULL PBR material settings for V5and yes so far it does seem to work, so thats good news. Night Lighting: Is it just us, or is P3D V5 now a lotdarker? Also dynamic lighting does not work. Could this be another bug, or perhaps a change in the effects fileformat, we will look at the SDKA. Source

/images/notams/notams20/fsla0417.jpgAs with many developers, FlightSimLabs has made an announcementin regards to the release this week of Prepar3D v5, as well as the P3D v4.5hotfix 3. The P3D v4.5 hotfix will require that FSLabs products be updated tosupport it, so users should expect a compatibility only update withinthe next few days. The P3D v5 release includes underlying engine code changes as well asthings like changing from DX11 to DX12 which require testing of theentire product line, which is still underway. Updates when availablewill be free of charge to existing customers. In addition, plans for a number of FSLabs aircraft were announced, including the A320-X, A321-X, A319-X and a new expansion product, the "Sharklets". Source

/images/notams/notams20/uk2k0416.jpgWe can confirm that upgrade for P3D V5 compatibility will be freefor all owners. Users have tested a few of our sceneries in P3D V5 andso far, there seems to be no issues. Users can feel free to manually move the scenery files to P3D V5yourself and there should be no problems with scenery faultshopefully, if the scenery has been moved correctly. Of course if youdo this, we will not be able to offer support, as we DON'T officiallyoffer support for P3D V5 yet; until the installers have beenupdated. We hope to have the installers updated as soon as wecan. We'll let you know when installers have been updated. Source

/images/notams/notams20/pmdg0415.jpgMany of you are planning to make the switch from Prepar3D v4 (P4D)to Prepar3D v5 (P5D) today. Here are some things we would like you to know. Please read throughall of it, so that we don't have the forum flooded with the samequestion over-and-over, thanks! Compatibility: In order to run PMDG products in P5D, we willneed to rebuild certain key pieces of each product in order to stripout problem areas, replace them with correctly implemented features, and capitalize on many of the new efficiencies that are to be gainedin this new platform. This process of doing this is underway, but willtake some time..." Getting Our Products Rebuilt: We are in the process ofpreparing new version builds of our NGXu product line, the 747, 777and DC-6 respectively- each updated to be compatible with P5D. Thesebuilds are going to take a litle time to roll out to you and yourpatience is appreciated. The first to roll out will be the 747- and weare hoping to have that to you within days. The others will followswiftly thereafter. No Charge for Entry: As previously announced, moving fromP4D to P5D will be a free update. (Please don't confuse free witheasy, however. There is a significant amount of work we have to do inthe background for you... and this work takes time.) Timeline Expectations: This is hard to pin down, as theserebuilds are not simply a matter of recompiling the installer withawareness of P5D. There is quite a bit more that goes into them, including complete refactors of certain functions, lighting, etc. These things take time. Manual Dragon-Drop: (Yes, I call it that onpurpose... Laugh--it is funny!) Enterprising users who know enoughabout how products are structured into P4D will probably be able tomanually drag-and-drop all of the necessary files over to P5D. Sincewe do not make any effort to prevent our product from running whenversion numbers change- you will find that the P4D versions will runquite happily in P5D- which is just grand, but be warned: There aremany things that need to be adjusted in order for the product to runwell. Beware of Dog: Anyone who feels enterprising and wishes todrag files around in hopes if seeing our products in P5D: You do so atyour own risk. We will not provide, nor will we even answer questionsrelated to any problems you create while doing this. We will not resetlicense keys for you because you locked yourself out due toimpatience, nor will we provide even a hint of suggestion on what youmight be doing wrong or how to fix your installation if things goawry. Generally we think it best that you wait until we give you aproper working installer and then you will be all set. Yes... We are probably aware of that... We have already seena number of users flooding our technical support team with questionsalong the lines of "I see the new P5D has will PMDG." I have instructed our support team to replyto you politely with the following phrase: "As with all of the platforms that we have worked with duringthe past 22 years, we will evaluate what features we can use toenhance our excellent product quality. We will communicate thosethings to you as we accomplish them. Thank you for yourinterest." So now you don't have to go to support to ask them. You alreadyhave your answer. No, all of these things won't be in the first roundof installers... we will bring them to you later when we have actuallyhad time to implement them. The Order of This and That: (Which sounds like a great,Genesis (circa Peter Gabriel period) song title, doesn't it?) You maybe wondering what order in which to expect things, such as our alreadydiscussed product updates that are rolling out, etc. We don't know atthis juncture. Simply focusing on one airplane at a time is the bestfor our team but it will slow down the P5D update schedule so it isn'toptimal- but we really don't even know if it is necessary at thisjuncture. Many many moving parts and we will push updates and newinstallers to you as we have them ready. Thank you for your patience during this transition period. We are asmall team and we are working through the tasks just as quickly as wecan. Source

/images/notams/notams20/orbx0415.jpgWe are very excited about the Prepar3D v5, which of course we willsupport. We have checked 230 products for major compatibility issues and sofar we are pleased to say that the majority are working as is. Our ObjectFlow module has been rewritten to take advantage of newfeatures in the Lockheed Martin's PDK. In the past, updating thismodule has sometimes been an issue, but with this module update, thatis no longer the case. We will make compatible products available as soon as possibleafter Prepar3D v5's release. Please see our Prepar3D v5 Compatibilitypage for an up to date listing of products that are v5 ready. We willonly provide Prepar3D v5 support for products in that list. We will work on the remaining products to get them up to v5compatibility. This is not a commitment or guarantee that all productswill be made available for v5. Regardless, we will endeavour to makeall of them compatible but there may be instances where this may notbe possible. Please read our Known Issues thread for moreinformation. One notable exception to this will be Orbx Global VECTOR; at thispoint we are not intending to port this title to the new platform. Thedata within in Prepar3D v5 is much newer and complete and makes GlobalVECTOR less relevant. Airport data in Global VECTOR is alsoincompatible with Prepar3D v5. Though Global VECTOR does haveadditional features such as road tunnels and custom textures, at thisstage we do not intend to modify it for Prepar3D v5. This upgrade will be free for our users. We have supported 4versions of Prepar3D with free upgrades allowing you to continue usingour products as the sim platform evolved - Prepar3D v5 is noexception. Source
