reecen Posted September 26, 2021 Share Posted September 26, 2021 It all starts nicely but then it throws up a box saying there is a new mandatory update which must be downloaded and then directs me back to the MS Store. But here's the thing - there is no update waiting to be downloaded in the store. Tried a few times but nothing works, so if anyone else has struck this I would appreciate some help. markhoare Posted September 26, 2021 Share Posted September 26, 2021 Hi, go back into the MS Store and search for the Xbox app. Download and install it. Re boot your computer and run the sim again. The update procedure may now work. For some reason it became necessary to have the Xbox app on your system for the updates to work. This was after the sim was released on Xbox. Whether you own an Xbox or use that version does not matter, you still need the app. MS and Asobo never bothered to tell anyone about the change though! The Xbox app ships with Windows 10, it's a Windows 10 default app. It's always been required to run MSFS because MSFS is an Xbox Game Studios title and every time MSFS launches, it checks your Xbox account details via the Xbox app. The Xbox app is updated every few months and if you don't have the latest version, MSFS won't update.
