miatamariner
I am considering purchasing MSFS2020 through Steam. I currently have FSX installed to a SSD to where I would also like to install MSFS2020. Does Steam allow installation of their base program to a drive other than C:\Program Files(x86)? Leadraft
It's been a while since I installed MSFS 2020, and I don't recall any specific installation procedures, but to generally answer your question, yes, you can install Steam to any other drive other than C. You can also choose to install Steam on C drive and Steam games on another drive. When installing MSFS 2020, it will place some configuration files on C drive in your users directory, regardless of which drive 2020 is installed on. I have Steam, MSFS 2020, and all my Steam games on a separate SSD. miatamariner
Thank you Mike. I was not aware that you could install Steam games to another drive while still having the main program on the C drive. My SSD is drive E. Can you tell me what a path would look like for a Steam game, say FSX, on my E drive?
loki
With Steam you can create additional Steam Library folders to use when installing games. Once the folder is created you can install new games to it, or move existing games. https://www.microcenter.com/tech_center/article/11365/how-to-create-a-new-steam-library-on-a-second-drive
