Rupert Posted August 4, 2022 Share Posted August 4, 2022 (edited) Always good to see a shot of a P-3. Those landing at McDill Field on Runway 23 need to be aware of an unexpected peril. Just a few miles across the bay is Peter O Knight which has a Runway 22 almost exactly in line with McDill's 23. Unless you notice the difference in runway length, they can easily be confused. Several aircraft over the decades have landed at O Knight thinking it was McDill!!??? More than once when that has happened, a much larger aircraft bound for MrDill Field had huge problems taking off on hugely the shorter runway at Peter O Knight Field!!:eek::eek: And no. The folks in the Air Force don't like GA aircraft landing at McDill field on a 040 approach to Knight Field either.
