MartinKv
It appears that aircraft files appear twice in my MSFS 2020 folder. For example, the Cirrus SR22 appears in the following locations - once in 'Official' folder and again in 'LocalCache\Packages\Official'. The paths are as follows. M:\WpSystem\S-1-5-21-3481120542-3159723895-2401771645-1001\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache\Packages\Official\OneStore\asobo-aircraft-sr22\SimObjects\Airplanes\Asobo_SR22 M:\WpSystem\S-1-5-21-3481120542-3159723895-2401771645-1001\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\Official\OneStore\asobo-aircraft-sr22\SimObjects\Airplanes\Asobo_SR22 Is my installation faulty, or does the program really need these files in both locations? markhoare
Hi, I think your installation is ok. I have noticed this too. My installation is on the "D" drive ssd but the install routine also places a considerable number of files on the "C" drive too. The sim seems to work ok so I am just leaving it alone. Mark. KiloWatt
Unless the program doesn't work correctly, I wouldn't worry about it. Is the sim misbehaving too? Ryzen 5 3600X, 16 GB 3733 MTs RAM, Radeon RX5700 OC, 2560 x 1080 Ultrawide
dogdish
"Cache" are temporary dynamic data files and the other "Official"+"Store" are static data files. Dynamic Data vs. Static Data. Static data refers to a fixed data set—or, data that remains the same after it's collected. Dynamic data, on the other hand, continually changes in order to maintain its integrity. MartinKv
Thanks for the replies. The sim works ok, but it just seems strange to have this duplication. It uses 313GB in total, with my add-ons stored on another drive, accessed by Add-On Linker. Edited September 10, 2021 by MartinKv
