Rupert
The livery is probably more attractive than the real aircraft. Having said that, being a pilot of a Ch-46 was never a "photo opp!" Being an old chopper guy I usually fly low and slow.
ColR1948
I remember one time at the airport I was working on a Balken Tupolev TU-154, at the time there was an air show at Woodford witch is not far away and the Red Arrows were all parked up across from where I was working. The pilots all walked over and were looking round the TU-154, it was a bit worse for ware and had big ball patches on the tyres from numerous landings. They were remarking on the condition of it, one said if this was one of theirs it would be scrapped. Also whenever one of the Russian aircraft came in the girls from the crew were off before the passengers, they used to go to shops in the terminal and come back with all kinds of goodies, mainly lots of chocolate, and there always seemed a lot of men on the crew too and used to stand by watching us. There were stories that they often flew off course coming and going to the UK, some thought they were gathering information and perhaps taking aerial photos, but that may just be a rumour. Col.
