ARandomFlightSimmer
Im kinda new to FS2004, and i was wondering how to make mods? i want to make a Lockheed 1201 i think it is? (the nuclear plane) and i have found no documentation on how to make mods, so if there are any mod creators here, help would be appreciated! defaid
Hi. It's not something I've ever considered -- the required amount of labour being well beyond the limit for me. I don't think there's a simple way of converting, say, a 2d drawing into a detailed 3d model so if you're as new to the world of 3d modelling as you are to FS9, you might first learn about GMax: it seems to be the favourite 3d modelling package. After that, you'll need a good working knowledge of the .air and .cfg files for FS2004 aircraft and then learn how to convert real world flight dynamics into suitable variables & values. At least the repainting is straightforward, provided you are comfortable working with layered artwork... When that's all done and you've uploaded the plane to the library here, I'll take the easy job of downloading it, though as the CL-1201 has a 1100 foot wingspan I might struggle to find a suitable airfield... tgibson_new
For FS2004 GMAX (or 3DS Max) is indeed the 3D CAD program of choice. That said, as stated above it is not a quick and easy process to create such an aircraft. https://www.fsdeveloper.com/wiki/index.php/Gmax_installation_guide_for_FS2004 https://www.fsdeveloper.com/wiki/index.php/Introduction_to_modeling_with_GMax http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/showthread.php/16418-Low-Poly-Aircraft-Modelling-Tutorial Tom Gibson CalClassic Propliner Page: http://www.calclassic.com
ARandomFlightSimmer
Thanks, I think I know where to find a premade 3d model, I'll have to look at those sites! Thanks for the help, ARandomFlightSimmer
lastivka
Even finding a ready-made 3D model on some of the 3D CAD sites, will involve extensive work to make them "fly" - something that most people don't have the skill for. And of course, most of the 3D models don't have proper cockpits or moving parts. Instead you may like to check out a range of large "concept" aircraft for FS9 that have already been made by others: Boeing Pelican by Mike Stone (available on flightsim) Burt Rutan's Global Flyer (available from simviation) EA-Super600X-2 Cargo - one of the largest sim aircraft (available on flightsim) SST2010 & SST2012 series by Shigeru Tanaka (available on flightsim) Boeing 2707 SST variants (available from flightsim and simviation) Visit FSXMissionsHangar.com For Missions in FSX and P3D
