ac103010
My sim's suddenly started to freeze after about 30 mins or so. Occasionally it comes back after a while but I've no idea why. Yes, I know there've been reams abd reams written on this but there would appear to be as many solutions as there are people offering them. I downloaded and installed the appropriate UIautomation.dll file, in the FSX root directory, but still freezes. Has anyone got a definite solution? CRJ_simpilot
Just in case. Go to the Start orb, in search enter view event logs. Double click Windows Logs. Right click system and application and save events as. Zip those two files and upload here. Right click UIAutomationCore.dll | properties. What version is it? Do you at least have the free version of FSUIPC installed? What kind of modules do you have installed? I'd like to see two files: dll.xml and exe.xml. Both are in your AppData folder. To find them quick install Everything.exe and find them. Right click, copy. Paste both on the desktop and zip them together. Upload here. While you have Everything, search for FSX.cfg. Back it up and delete it. Restart a flight, it will rebuild. What version of Windows are you using? Is FSX installed outside of the programs x86 folder? Something else. Run Autoruns, go to File and save the ARN file. Zip that and upload here. Combined with all of the above, this will give me a better picture of your environment. https://www.voidtools.com/downloads/ https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/downloads/autoruns Edited November 25, 2020 by CRJ_simpilot OOM errors? CRJ_simpilot
Also, you need a 32 or 64 bit version of uiautomationcore.dll. The first two here are the latest. Use the 64 bit version or the 32 bit version depending on your Windows version. https://www.dll-files.com/uiautomationcore.dll.html The hashes don't match up but pass Virus Total's muster. I'll have to chime in on their forum and let them know of that. Site scan 0/80 anti virus engines. https://www.virustotal.com/gui/search/%2520https%253A%252F%252Fwww.dll-files.com/urls As always, scan all downloads at Virus Total. You can find out what version of Windows you have by going to the start orb and in search enter system information. Now look at system type. Edit- Just some dork here. The website dll-files.com listed at Virus Total has their IP wrong. It's 79.99.3.27 and owned by Tilf AB https://www.dll-files.com/about/ AB is Swedish for corporation like an INC here in the states. Here's their basic company profile. I couldn't find revinue. LOL https://www.crunchbase.com/organization/tilf-ab Never mind, 2 Mill. https://www.zoominfo.com/c/tilf-ab/372664436 Anyway, do as I ask and I'll see if I can narrow this turkey down. Speaking of... ac103010
-Just in case. Go to the Start orb, in search enter view event logs. Double click Windows Logs. Right click -system and application and save events as. Zip those two files and upload here. Checked viewer - Found 2 error entries referencing UIautomation.dll -Right click UIAutomationCore.dll | properties. What version is it? Installed new version 7.2.17763.1 because of the events viewer entries above. I'll try it and see what happens -Do you at least have the free version of FSUIPC installed? Yes -What kind of modules do you have installed? Can't answer this one. Let me try the other fixes before I research this further. -I'd like to see two files: dll.xml and exe.xml. Both are in your AppData folder. To find them quick install -Everything.exe and find them. Right click, copy. Paste both on the desktop and zip them together. Upload -here. Same again. I'll try the other fixes first -While you have Everything, search for FSX.cfg. Back it up and delete it. Restart a flight, it will rebuild. Doing it as we speak. -What version of Windows are you using? Is FSX installed outside of the programs x86 folder? Win 10, 64 Bit. FSX Installed inside x86 Folder -Something else. Run Autoruns, go to File and save the ARN file. Zip that and upload -here. Combined with all of the above, this will give me a better picture of your environment. I'll work on this. f16jockey_2
Also, you need a 32 or 64 bit version of uiautomationcore.dll... Misleading at least. Lots of probably correct but redundant information. First, if the UIAutomationCore.dll thingy is missing, it causes a CTD, not a freeze. Second, the UIAutomationCore.dll needed to "fix FSX" is from the Windows Vista era, therefore always 32 bit. It goes in your root FSX folder. The UIAutomationCore.dll that comes with your OS (32 or 64 bit) resides in C:\Windows\System32 and C:\Windows\SysWOW64. They should stay there. If there are problems with these DLLs, one should be visiting another than this FSX forum. @OP: I'm pretty sure the freezing is NOT caused by UIAutomationCore.DLL. Try lowering your settings. ac103010
Hello Wim, Let me get this issue clear. You're saying that FSX does not need UIautmationCore.dll is not neede at all in FSX when runing Wondows 10 and 64 bit? Allan
f16jockey_2
No, I never said that. I said that the freezing is not caused by the absence of the UIAutomationCore.dll fix. That would cause a CTD, not a freeze. Wim
ac103010
Oh, I missunderstood. So should I put an FSX version in FSX, even though it doen't cause freezing?? I can do as you say and leave Windows alone because I'm not havig any other problems. Working through the rest of your posts. Allan

Nobody other than you can say what the "definitite solution" is but to me it sounds as if it might be the "8 minute freeze" issue, you may need an adjustment in your fsx.cfg. CRJ_simpilot
You also shouldn't run the Sim from the programs folder unfortunately. I haven't tried this, but sounds prudent. Create a folder on C drive its self simply called FSX. Now copy/paste all of the content in your FSX directory into this new FSX folder on C drive. Now delete the FSX folder in the programs x86 folder. After that run this program and I think that'll rewrite your new FSX directory in the registry. https://flyawaysimulation.com/downloads/files/18872/fsx-tweakfs-registry-utility-v121/ As alwasy, scan all downloads at Virus Total. You may have to reinstall some or al addons. Just be prepared for that. About Windows 10. May want to run though this: https://windowsreport.com/microsoft-flight-simulator-x-windows-10/ You mostly may want to be concerned with where FSX is installed, if you have DirectX 9 installed, and if it's running as Admin in Windows XP SP2. I run FSX as Admin. and as Windows XP SP2 myself, but in Windows 7. If I was sitting there in front of your computer I'd have this ironed out. Edited November 27, 2020 by CRJ_simpilot OOM errors? ac103010
Hello CRJ. Yes, I understood this to be the case and I thought I'd installed it this way. I bought a new SSD and the first thing I installed was FSX. It's only when the question has now been asked that I checked again. I'll change it but always been very wary of just copying over, and possible losing items installed later. I have Windows 10 but have printed your comments and I think I'll do this before I work on any of the other help and advise I've been given. Thank you. Oh, and just tell me what keys to press. ac103010
Hi CRJ, I've transferred FSX to C:\ No issues transferring except for 2 addon sceneries, which I'll re-install. Going to try some longer flights, now. I'll give feedback on my results. Thank you, again. Allan
